DecideDiet is a new startup on a mission to help tracking recommended sodium and potassium diet compliance in certain diseases like chronic kidney disease, end stage renal disease “dialysis patient”, heart failure, and hypertension. In the US millions live with at least one chronic disease and we know how difficult it is to manage your diet and constantly pay attention to nutrition labels. The old fashion way of providing an education pamphlet to address diet is still largely practiced however the effectiveness of the intervention is yet to be established. DecideDiet is still growing and expanding, stay tuned! We are open to any new ideas or suggestions to improve the application. We are introducing DecideDiet which has the primary role of educating users with chronic diseases, about diet choices in order to optimize disease control. DecideDiet relying on behavioral modification and smart built in algorithms making consuming your diet easier and fun! No need for manual entry, amount counting, and complex graphs analysis. Forget about reading or memorizing long nutrition labels. We created a large database of food items with matching bar codes and labeled each item on the basis of food constituents of sodium, potassium, and in the near future phosphorus, using different colors and symbols (for color blind). Your individual unique food basket holds all food you have consumed over time, with a goal being more than 75 % of green, minimal yellow, and NO red labeled diet items in order to comply with the recommended restrictions. The diet compliance is based on the recommended reduced daily consumption of sodium “two grams”, and potassium “two grams”. The recommendations are based on one serving of the consumed item. We labeled green color for appropriate food, yellow - food to avoid, and red – not recommended to consume. The more items you scan the more accurate your basket is. KEY FEATURES: • Large database of common foods and products from your favorite brands and restaurants. • Super easy setup. • Barcode scanner. • Instant check of Sodium and Potassium amount in food. • Visual presentation and diary of consumed food. Birthday Date Picker Issues
I could not select a date other than today on the birthday picker. I rolled the dial to the correct month, and it would spin back to the current month and not allow my birth month to be selected. Same for day and year.
Almost perfect
Needs a way to edit the quantity and connect to Apple health app. Gives good info on choosing food.
Portion control
I love the concept as I was just recently put on a low potassium diet and have to also count carbs with insulin use as a diabetic . It would be perfect if I had the ability to adjust portion to match what I actually consume. This would put some of my foods in that desired green area!
Kidney Crushers
Potassium and Sodium are only two of the key ingredients to watch out for on a renal or CKD diet. The other two Phosphorus and Sugar/Carbs should also be closely monitored and therefore should be added to this app to make it both a convenient and outstanding app tool.
Poor design/interface
Installed on my iPad and got useful (not great results). Intended to install on iPhone to use in store, but forgot password used to install on iPad. Chose rest password option and got the link to rest. Put in and confirmed new password, but got error message ((several times). App doesn’t allow user to see password entered - makes it difficult to see any mismatches. Front end must have been designed by one of those 10-week coding graduates
Unusable
Unable to create an account, or even view terms of service or privacy, as any action results in an error, “Cannot connect to server”, or Error 404. Uninstalled immediately.
Much too difficult
App did not work for me
- new diagnosis added - Suggest new feature” option added to settings screen - minor bugs fixed
