PNGShrink for can batch process PNG images, decreasing their file sizes, keeping transparency and quality. PNGShrink uses the popular pngquant algorithm to quantize PNG images, which results in much smaller files, with up to 70% decrease in file size. Used by web- and app developers, animators and graphic designers to increase the speed and save bandwidth usage of apps and websites, especially on mobile devices. Features • easy to use interface for pngquant • simply drag & drop files or folders into the application (or dock icon) • automatically includes subfolders • converts all '.png' files and leaves other files alone • auto-rename or keep your original filenames • no limits: process thousands of files in one go
Works as advertised
For the cost, it’s hard to go wrong with this app. It does what it says, (I used to use TinyPNG) and it does it well. The compression is not to the same level as some higher cost products, but most of the time, I don’t need maximum compression, I just need to take a PNG that Preview resampled to 6MB and bring it down to 1.5MB, which this app does well.
Works as it should
This app is well worth the money if you need to shrink PNG images. It does the same thing as the website tinypng, but without having to pay fees if you convert more than 500 images, and without the hassle of uploading and downloading images. The compression algorithm appears to be slightly inferior to tinypng. In my testing (of 100 small images, ~38 KB each) PNGShrink achieved an average compression of 58%, and tinypng achieved compression of 67%. Still, 58% is great for my purposes, and the ease-of-use is much better than tinypng. The UI is exactly what you would expect, and it works reliably.
Fixed a bug where in many cases files would not be saved in the destination folder.
