For what might have been
EG is better than this and with just a bit more care, this would be a pretty solid game, as were the first two. I waited to see if the bugs would be fixed and I can only assume some were, but not all. The inventory still isn’t identified, but most of the time it’s fairly easy to figure out how something is to be used but there are times when only using the hint button will work. The loading page is what bothered me most. It slows the pace. Also in some scenes, especially the cave, it’s impossible to get to the previous scene so the map is the only alternative to hitting the lower screen over and over. Sound quits intermittently. Overall, I’d put this in the half-fail column for a so-so game maker, but for EG it’s a three-quarter to total fail. Last word to EG: you’ve made some of the best mobile game titles. Try to remember that.
Strange Investigations: Secrets Can Kill by LynxMinx
Elephant had a lot of nerve giving us unlabeled inventory, making this game more of a chore rather than a pleasure to play. So if you want to keep losing players right and left, keep on giving us unlabeled items. Every other developer labels inventory, and with what we pay for your games, we deserve identifiable inventory. Try the free trial first to decide whether or not to purchase. I have also noticed that there was a marked lack of touchscreen sensitivity on the gameplay interface, which made several mini-games and puzzles quite difficult to manipulate. It also made it nearly impossible to obtain some of the collectibles. Loading time had quite a lag. The map marks were incorrect on occasion, showing an available action before one had acquired the correct inventory item. The game was lengthy, but it was extremely frustrating. Although I love the sub-genre of paranormal crime, this game fell short. Gameplay was fast-paced and addictive, and a dossier was included to help you draw conclusions. However, it was very confusing to utilize. So this game had its positive and negative aspects, and unfortunately the bad outweighed the good. I cannot in all good conscience give this game more than 2 stars. It should not have been this difficult to play. Note to Elephant: do this again (no labeled inventory) and I promise you a very noticeable loss of revenue. The gamers have had enough. Give us a game which has all the bells and whistles, especially labeled inventory items. Ridiculous! You created the game cheaply, and it will cost you both revenue and players. Make sure your next release is perfect. Or else it will just get worse. I would hate to see that happen when you have the potential to develop and release wonderful games!
My last Elephant game
I am through. This is the worst game I have ever played, and will be my last purchase from Elephant. The storyline was disjointed, there was a TERRIBLE lag between screens, and again, no labeled inventory. This game was a chore to complete and I would not have continued but for trying to be fair before rating. I will not spend another cent on these games unless the quality improves. So sad! Elephant used to be one of my favorite developers. What happened?
Iffy
I thought this was a game, not lip reading practice. It seems like it could be a decent story but there’s no text to telling you what’s being said on the longer pieces. It leaves me feeling like I’m clueless. Additionally, not having labels on the inventory is bush league.
Issues
I’m no longer going to purchase games until others have reviewed and or the bugs are worked out. There is an issue with completing one of the hidden object puzzles. I’ve already contacted customer service and gave a screenshot. I will be requesting a refund as soon as I get my receipt from the App Store.
Strange investigations
I’m really enjoying this game but why isn’t the inventory labeled??
Why don’t you listen to your customers???
We have begged you to label your inventory over and over again and every game?? Nope. I am seriously thinking about tapping out on Elephant
