Lead your squads of school children in a real-time battle to capture the other team's flag in an epic snowball fight! Each child has their own name, strengths and weaknesses, and sophisticated artificial intelligence so all you need to do is tell them where to move to, charge or rapid fire, and they will take care of the rest. They'll run away if you leave them exposed or surrounded so make use of the terrain and be careful not to let them get exhausted. Play against the computer controlled AI or against a friend over Bluetooth or WiFi. The tutorial map is fully functional and free to play, and if you enjoy it please buy the extra maps as an in-app purchase!
I like this game
I really like this game I even bought all the maps. But it doesn’t really get updated anymore but in my opinion there’s so much potential here. Here’s a few things I would add. Improved ai possible with reinforcement learning, more types to of units, and I would also like a map creator because just adding that would make the game 10x better. I don’t know how hard that is to code or how much time you have on your hands but I really think this is a good game.
Unique game - very fun
The gameplay reminds me of the Total War games. You have armies fight for control of strategic areas such as hills and narrow passages. Sean, a great idea for a future game would be a game similar to snowballs, but instead you use napoleonic units such as infantry, skirmishers, cavalry, cannons. Just an idea.
Good but
I would say this is a good game is just that I have two problems with it which are that there should be a actual tutorial or a better tutorial if by chance there is a tutorial cause With the tutorial level I don’t see where it’s a tutorial. My second problem would be that I have to pay for the other levels or maps. Like I don’t wanna keep doing the tutorial map all the time.
Suppression, strategy, morale… in a snowball game!
One the most unique games I’ve played in a while, another strategy game by the same developer who made “firefight”. This game takes into account morale, suppression (to an extent), and more, things that are rarely seen in a mobile game like this. One thing I love about this game is the simplicity of managing your team. It’s as easy as dragging their orders to a new location, or either having them charge or rapid fire. It’s simple in its surface, but the AI and behind-the-scene system is very detailed and sophisticated. The map pack includes about 11 different maps with unique features (costs 4 dollars to access them but they give you the tutorial one for free!) Elevation, cover, and forest density is put into account as well. My only complaints for the game is that maps can tend to get repetitive after playing them for a while. While I do know that the developer more than likely does not bat an eye to this game anymore, some sort of map generation and unit placement customization feature would be a dream come true. Other than that, this game is a solid 5-starrer. As mentioned above, the maps of course do cost money, but they provide a tutorial map free of price. For 4 dollars, I personally think you get a reasonable amount of content.
Can be good
So, to start off, I like the idea here but there is a ton of problems with this game. 1: The mortar has 0 effect on anything, I have not ever seen a mortar actually hit something. 2: The behavior of some of the fighters is plain stupid, I had an entire group of bullies and an entire group of regulars in a base, they were well rested AND they outnumbered the enemy I’d say 3:2, then the enemy which consisted of a couple bullies and a few regulars decided to charge and guess what? My team rolled over and let them take the base. 3: To be honest I’m not even quite sure what the problem is here but why are fighters on the other team always fading away and becoming invisible then reappearing randomly, they aren’t teleporting they just keep turning invisible, am I the only one seeing this, well anyway it would be great if they could NOT turn invisible.
Very fun!
It’s free to try, and if you like it, there are more maps for you to try. Also, there’s multiplayer. I like how much that it’s like Firefight but with children and snowballs, haha! I enjoy the all the strategic decisions this game presents. There’s a lot more than you might first think. Here’s a bit about the game (it’s written in the game): there are different children/unit types that have different strengths. Children can charge the enemy to dislodge them from their position, but it goes wrong when the children lose courage when charging up hills and towards ice forts. The map set-ups allow for different plans. The maps are definitely not like each other, too, so there’s a lot to learn and enjoy! Notes on the game: I wish there were more maps, because 1 tutorial + 11 purchased maps are not enough. Although, I appreciate that the maps are very different from each other. I love the different children/unit types and the charge ability! Mortar seems ineffective. I’m unaware of how exhaustion and (out of) breath affects the kids. I’m also not sure how to reduce those levels. (Side note to developer Sean O’Connor: about Critical Mass, please consider enhancing the AI to avoid friendly fire and to avoid my range! I could destroy more units on the map given the chance, so I’d also like the AI to give me more opportunities against fighters. It’s also annoying that they run into me when I’m shaking an enemy. Edit: what about a second chance/life?)
Great Game Just a Couple of Things
Could you please update more often and please make it easier to hit enemy troops more often because I hate waiting for my troops to finally hit an enemy soldier. But other than that the game is great!
