Good app but too hard for beginners.
Of course this app helps you learn go but as a beginner it’s just as likely to infuriate you. It gives you handicap automaticity but on 9x9 it’s likely to crush you if it doesn’t resign in the first 8 moves or so. Good luck trying to unlock larger boards against the bot. It’s far more fun to lean playing online, or against easier bots.
More content!!
I really enjoy the simple and elegant design of this app, you’ve done well. The ai is lacking in strength, and not being able to play ai on 19x19 is a big disappointment. I may move on to another app and forget this one completely. The app is very easy to use! I hope to see more updates. It could easily go from zero to hero with some quality content added. Having a paid version is no excuse to keep major bugs and flaws in the free version.
Good app, can’t find a support feature
I like the app - the AI seems good for a beginner like me, and the app itself is pretty minimal, which is great. I ran into one issue - I’ve turned the “mark next moves” feature off in game replay mode three times, but it keeps turning back on - but don’t know how to contact the app’s support line. I hope both of these issues can be addressed in app updates.
No interactive tutorial
Was expecting to be taught how to play.
Pretty good
I’m just starting to pick up go. I’ve never played and don’t know anyone who does so this is a decent learning device. I was stuck on a four handicap for a while but then I got the go books app. Buy “the way of the moving horse”. I’ve read a few chapters and very quickly made it to level seven (3 handicap). Not as good as having a person to teach you and tell you their thought processes for winning but if you think about it you can figure it out.
AI too difficult for beginners
The tutorial is good and the app functions well, but the AI is too difficult to play against when you are just getting started learning. It’s aggressive and doesn’t seem to make mistakes. I don’t expect to win every game when learning but if I don’t win in the first 10 moves where it early resigns, I won’t win. If it had a configurable difficultly I think this would be a great app. The score calculation seems broken too. If you have it calculate twice in a row it will give you different scores.
Good
A decent app to learn the basics. Straightforward and has leveling AI.
Various bug fixes.
