Mr Word challenges you to a word game with added personality. Even more so, now that Mr Word talks back. This update sees the following enhancements: - Mr Word chats with you during 1 player game play, just like a real human opponent - Improved dictionary (uses the Oxford English Dictionary if installed) - High score table, plus keeps track of how many games each player has won - more consistent AI gameplay Choose 1 player or 2 player modes, and enter your name to begin. In 1 player mode, you are playing against Mr Word himself. Featuring Genuine People Personality, Mr Word will really give you a run for your money. Sometimes he will offer encouraging comments, other times he can be a little sarcastic - try not to let him put you off. Choose a difficulty level, Easy, Medium or Hard, then Mr Word will choose words that a real human would choose (his vocabulary increases in Hard level), and respond to your move in seconds - great for rapid fire play. Now even faster than before. If you make Mr Word think for longer than a few seconds, you are doing really well! Mr Word will even "spellcheck" your words as you lay them, so you know in advance whether the word you are playing is acceptable. New option: turn off spellcheck for more challenging word play. In 2 player mode, your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch becomes a high quality table top board game. Both users can examine and manipulate their letters simultaneously, and the board rotates to face you when it's your turn. Mr Word Pro is minimalist, highly playable, and totally ad free so you can rediscover the joy of word games. Also featuring the Define button - instantly brings up word definitions for all words played. High quality, Apple-supplied dictionary of over 100,000 words. Features definitions from the Oxford English Dictionary so you can learn new words and their meanings every time you play.
Clean visuals
Best clean visuals out of about 5 other Scrabble-esque games I’ve tried. Didn’t give it 5 stars because even at the easy level Mr. Word often makes these super short words that you can’t expand on easily. If he were human, I’d think of him as mean and inconsiderate.
Mr Word Pro
I love this game and play every day, I like the voices, makes it a little more personal
Decent but could be better
A good alternative to other word games but the algorithm determining tile selection could be better. I regularly end up with all vowels or all consonants 5 or 6 times a game. It doesn't seem truly random.
Good game
I play this when I don't want to wait for online opponents in other games. The only disappointment is that the game does not show you totals before you submit your word. You have to figure it out yourself which is a pain when you are considering various options.
Fun
App still doesn't know common English words, so feels foreign. So there are worldwide weird plant names--but words in common usage in English are not acceptable. Constant crashing with Maverick and El Capitain. App crashes every time I play. I put my first word in and boom! I have to start over. Also crashes at unexpected times.
Crash baby burn!
Crashes like a monster truck! Would not even accept the word "fewer". Really? Unbelievable. I've been duped because I paid 😤
App needs help, unpredictable
Please fix this paid app. Problem 1: App often ends my turn before I am finished. At first, I thought I was accidentally brushing my hand over "done". (Why is this in bottom right corner, anyway? Either bottom corner is easy to brush against.) BUT more recently, the app has ended my turn when my hand/finger was nowhere near "done". Problem 2: Other times, I actually do press "done" but the entire app closes. Problem 3: Most of time, both scores do not show. Problem 4: Then there are occasional suspect "words" (that are really prefixes, not even stand alone words in any English dictionary) played by Mr Word. That's a sampling of the problems with this app.
