Devil on the Mississippi
Great game...until it would not let me open the Church gate with the key....to go dig up the grave towards the end...no matter what I did or how many times I tried wouldn't let me...so game ended there...I would have given it 5 stars otherwise...need help with this if anyone knows anything.
Beautiful, nicely animated, not enough puzzles, maybe not worth $5
The graphics and animation are on par with Big Fish games. But as with most BF games, there is more style than substance. The story line is complex, with some inclusion of historical facts, but I really don't care to read that much text while I'm playing such games. Most of it is irrelevant to reaching solutions anyway. I appreciate fine illustration, but mostly I want to solve good puzzles, and as many as I can find. With all of that nice work, it seems a waste when there's only one object to find in a scene for your inventory. As I often write in my reviews (are developers even paying attention?), HO puzzles are my least favorite, because they require no skills or thinking. There are a few too many in this game. But there are some very creative and fun puzzles in this game, too, just too few and far between. I really like the pool table challenge, which is unique and fun. More like that please. Hints are available and helpful, but mostly too helpful. They actually give you answers, so they're not hints. Hidden objects are often too dark or small to see, so improving that would make it less frustrating. Also, the areas that react to touch are very narrow and not always responsive. Several times, I touched a useful object that didn't reveal itself the first or second time. And those darn bouncing arrows need to stop bouncing. It's too distracting. I'm getting tired of paying $5 for games that are fun to play only once. They need to drop their prices a couple bucks for me to keep buying new games.
Wow great graphics
I stopped playing this game on my own ( bought it after the opening scene was hooked) to write this review. NOT SOMETHING I NORMALLY DO. this is an incredible game pc worthy let alone iPad Great job Actually all the games from theses devs rock. I own witch trials and the other one (can't remember name ) Highly highly recommend will not disappoint beautiful if that is what draws you in ( that's my hook) and not really junk-pile HOS but IHOS. Please make another just like the others!!!! Soon
One of the best point and tap adventures
Well conceived story, immersive gameplay, awesome graphics, challenging but not to the point of frustration. Very good balance between puzzle and hidden object scenes. Deserves each and every star.
Worth Every Cent
My very first adventure game was Mumbo Jumbo's Salem Witch Trials. I was hooked. I was lucky to purchase the Salem game for a buck, and was a little bummed when I had to pay full price for the other M.J. games, thinking three dollars was a lot, but the games were so much fun. Then I bought a G5 game, and I became a M.J. junkie. I paid seven dollars for a G5 game, and I was constantly comparing it to the M.J. games. M.J. has excellent graphics, great story lines (blows G5 out of the water), and the games and puzzles will keep you on your toes. But the best thing about the game is the quality of game you get for the price. I am constantly comparing similar games to M.J., if they can offer me quality for a reasonable price, I don't know why Big Fish or G5 can't lower their prices.
Outstanding games
It's good to see another developer putting out some of these hidden object games. Big Fish and G5 so far have put out the best of the genre. But let me tell you MumboJumbo have now put out some of their own games which are of the highest quality. Easily better than G5. The graphics and animations are superb and the story-lines are very engaging. They have 4 that I'm aware of so far. Looking forward to many more in the future.
Disappointing!
This game is listed as FREE. It doesn't say that you have to pay for the full game unlock, but you do. That info should be listed under "in app purchases". Thanks for wasting my data MumboJumbo.
