Microscopya is a science-themed adventure and puzzle game taking players on a journey through the inside of the cell. Explore the fantastical world, solve puzzles based on real molecular mechanisms, customize your character, and experience the beauty and complexity of what makes life possible. This is the first game from Beata Science Art, featuring music by the talented Jamie van Dyck of Earthside and programming by Atelier Monarch Studios. Special thanks to the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Lyda Hill Philanthropies for making this project possible, and the American Society for Cell Biology for additional funding.
Stunningly beautiful
What a fun entrance into the inner workings of the cell. I love how it shows the microtubule ends dynamically changing. What a beautiful aesthetic too.
10/10
Awesome game, very thorough and beautifully made, perfect for so many levels of education
Good but…
This game has really good designs and is very informative. The down fall is, It wasn’t very long… it only went through a few organelles in the cell. I finished the game in a few minutes. If it went through all the organelle’s in a cell and went over more cell functions it would be a 5/5 stars.
Beautiful graphics!
The graphics are really beautiful! Since learning is the objective, it would be nice to see more interactive elements that don’t involve getting a trophy. Also I’m not sure who the intended audience is, but as someone who stopped biology as soon as I had the chance in high school, this jumped a few levels. Perhaps it would help to have beginner, intermediate and advanced levels in subsequent developments. Overall, I do really love it and definitely learned a lot! Also if you could have multiple random scenarios or something so each time the player plays, they do a different kind of repair or adventure, that would be fun! If you haven’t already, I’d suggest looking to Carmen Sandiego and Cluefinders type of games for more ideas.
Seems to promise more than it delivers
The pitch seems to promise a full exploration, but it’s really only the Mitochondria and the chapter itself is very short, like 20 minutes maybe.
Fascinating!
The graphics are beautifully done! The game is interesting, fun and informative! What an innovative way to demonstrate a concept! I love that I was playing a game and in the end came away learning something I didn’t know.
Runs Great on iPad!
I just played the current version and it’s sooo cool! I love the graphics and the puzzles. It’s kind of a cross between biology and anime and steampunk, which makes it fun to play and fun to learn from. Can’t wait to see the next chapter….
