There is a brand new DGT Chess app for the Pegasus. In the past there was a DGT app developed by an external source. This app didn’t meet our high standards and the DGT team felt that developing an internal app was necessary to match with the great quality of the board. So, we re-built it from the ground up! The DGT chess app allows you to connect the DGT Pegasus board to your favourite chess platform, against old or new friends and without using any screens. Use the free DGT Chess app to connect your phone with the board. The app then links up the global chess community of Lichess where you can find thousands of opponents. After connecting with an opponent, you can put your phone away and concentrate fully on the board. You will see your opponent’s moves via pulsing LED rings on the board.
App makes silly mistakes
When playing and offline game with my daughter, I was white she was black. I set app up to annotate the game. Towards the end of game my daughter (black) promoted to a Queen and the app recorded the Queen and a White Queen. There is no way to take back or change the annotation so the whole record is useless. Pretty silly mistake for such a nice board with great possibilities
We were promised a new, actually functional application over six months ago.
Where is it?
Does not save PGNs
I use this app with my DGT Pegasus board to play and save games at the chess club I’m in. You must immediately export the PGN the moment the game is over or it’s lost forever. Seems like a big oversight to not have some kind of PGN history built in. I have now switched to the White Pawn app as an alternative to solve for this problem.
Works great with lichess
Started using the app today after launch. Played 10 games on lichess against bots and opponents. The app is easy to use and connectivity is great to the board and the online servers. Scenarios like queening a pawn and getting draw offers are well integrated. This setup of using the board to play games more than G10+10 on lichess without a computer screen is a great success.
