The CodeGamer app is part of the CodeGamer experimental kit. It is only in combination with the gamepad from the experimental kit that all app functions can be used. Once the connection has been established between the gamepad and the app, all levels will be unlocked automatically. Journey yourself through 15 exciting levels, and learn the Arduino programming language along the way. Transfer your reality to the digital world and discover the innovative controls included in CodeGamer! Transform your game character into one of the four sensor bots in order to eliminate obstacles. To do so, just plug a sensor bot into the gamepad and activate its special powers. “Kelvin“: melts ice cubes as soon as you warm the temperature sensor with your hand “Decibel“: clears the path each time you treat the audio sensor with sounds “Lumen“: shows you hidden things whenever you illuminate your light sensor “Newton“: boxes all obstacles out of the way as soons as you shake your motion sensor Level editor: create your own levels and share them with other players Learn the Arduino programming language level by level while playing the game! - Solve the Arduino puzzles – which will become more and more difficult – to get ahead in the game. - Find out which codes will make your audio module howl, or the LEDs on your gamepad flash. - Discover how your gamepad works and how you can program it by yourself. **** Questions, suggestions and feature requests? Truly awful experience, with poorly written material
If you're looking at the app then you've probably also unfortunately paid money for this kit. I would advise you to run, not walk, back to the store and return this as soon as possible. The kit is riddled with numerous problems. First, the controller doesn't actually connect, at least to any Apple products. I've tried everything, it can't be done. You can play the iPad game without it, but then what's the point. Second, the app itself gives terrible form of instruction that doesn't relate to kids at all. It feels like it was written by an entry level mediocre corporate programmer who hasn't yet developed enough skills to explain computation to an adult let alone a child. It does not attempt to introduce the child to coding concepts or procedure on any level but expects them to simply figure out how to fill in the blanks of some poorly written code examples. There is no coaching whatsoever like there is on Apple's Swift Playgrounds or on code.org. It's beyond terrible and I am really disappointed that Thames Kosmos would put such pitiful effort into what is supposed to be a teaching tool.
Horrible
Music is bad it’s just in a loop,u can’t even reset firmware, so now I can’t play the rest of the levels! And it’s possible to glitch blocks out of the grid! What is this?!
I found ways to break it (bad)
First of all, the controller is horrible. You can’t reset to factory firmware and since the app wants me to connect the controller to play the rest of the levels, which is stupid, now I can’t do the rest of the levels. So don’t do the programming or else it will go onto online firmware, NOT TO MENTION THE BLUETOOTH MODULE DOESN’T WORK! Second of all, the music is horrible, when you go to a menu it repeats and the music is not even music! It’s just repeating music which is not music at all, and you can go past the world border, place blocks and movers out of the world border, place blocks out of the grid, and go on top of obstacles. And there was also a level with a lever, but the block offsets on the lever, so now it’s impossible. I’m not going to tell you how to do break the game though. FIX IT
Meh
It is a good way to learn to code but is very frustrating. Better than expected, but worse that you would think. I cried when I got this for Christmas and thought it was something good.
Great
I absolutely loved making my own controller and playing with it! I don’t like the music, though
Nice Game(but I found many ways to break it)
Now honestly, this is a good game but I found some ways to skip parts of it. As well as an issue. See, all the springs aren’t solid, so somehow you managed to walk over the spring before it contracts, you will fall through it. I’m not going to tell u the ways to skip parts of levels cause I want to keep doing that, but I also found out how to get out of the boundaries of the game, some interesting stuff, and good game
Uhhh don’t buy this game / coding box
I’m a 11 year old that loves coding because my dad is a coder. He ended up not being able to get past the first level because it’s such a bad app so please do not play this game because it’s just a waste of money and time
