Hearts is an "evasion-type" trick-taking card game for four players. The aim of the game is to score fewer points than all of your opponents. The winner of the game is the player whose score is lowest when any player exceeds 100 points. The premium version is completely ad free! Play Hearts campaigns against the computer players in our take on this classic card game. Check your all time and session stats to see if you are improving over time. It takes real skill to beat the computer players with their perfect memory. Hearts is a simple game to learn, but it will take a while to master! How Hearts plays: At the end of each hand, the trick cards each player has collected are presented and totalled. The value of those trick cards are added to each player's total score. Whoever is dealt the 2 of clubs plays this card to start. Each player must play one card in a clockwise order, following suit where they can. The winner of each trick is the player who plays the highest card matching the suit of the first player to play. If you cannot follow suit you can play any card from your hand, except on the first round you are not permitted to play a trick card. No player may lead with a heart until the first heart is played ('hearts are broken'). Want a quicker game? A new game mode of 'small hearts' has been added! Small Hearts is a quicker 28 card version, where the 2-7 of each suit is removed from the deck before playing. It plays the same way as Classic Hearts, but the Q of spades is worth 7 points, shooting the moon gives 14 points to each opposition player, the starting card is the 8 of clubs and the game ends when the first player goes over 50 not 100 points. This classic game is also know as Black Lady, Dark Lady, Slippery Anne, Chase the Lady, Crubs, Black Queen and Black Maria.
Have any of you “reviewers” ever played hearts against humans?
The maker of this game claims that you might have a tough time beating the other three players since they are computer artificial intelligence with fantastic memories. If you’ve never played against real people this might be the case. I’m not a game developer and I have a great deal of respect for those who are, but I believe it’s virtually impossible for the opponents to consistently win this game because the human brain can figure out the nuance required to be a winning hearts player. I could site many examples but one hand that strikes me the most is when the opponent player tries to dump points on the player with the highest score late in the game. This isn’t always the best move if you want to win. Consider this: The score after numerous hands is North 28, East 27, South (human) 75, and West 55. West attempts to Shoot the Moon and is successful giving all opponents 26 points. So what happens? South’s score goes over 100 but un-clever West does not win, East does with a score of 53. I still do enjoy this game because the graphics are so lifelike and the colors and sounds are neat and irs good practice for the real thing.
Hearts
Fun game, usually works well, but some of the time gets “stuck” and won’t let you start the next game or return to see the stats. Can e frustrating.
Just awful
It was an awful app. I downloaded it because I could not initially find the app I like. I deleted it immediately, and looked harder for one I liked much better. Found it, and it was free.
Unplayable
Pass left and card buttons unresponsive. Unplayable. Can I get my $.99 back?
Added a button to the score panel to allow seeing behind it
