Edited review; a decent k-2 chess app, but only pt1

This game is rather outdated. It is an old pc game that had 4 parts. This is only the first one and they want $25 for it! All the dialogue is uninterruptible, & my kid gets annoyed when she misclicks and it takes her to another screen she didnt want, or starts dialogue you just have to wait through. (Which happens a lot). Then it’s difficult to find the content (though this seems more a “feature” than a bug). The piece set is another issue. The default stays with a silly set, and can only be temporarily changed. The first mini games are half okay and half miss too. The spider game hardly seems relevant to learning about rooks, & my daughter (who already knows how to play) didnt even realize she had played the bishop game. The knight game was quite tricky at points and and she got quite frustrated as to what counted as jumping over the different spots. Compared to how asinine the rest of the app is this part was way more tricky. The main “miss” of the games to me is that these “mini-games” are video game style for some and turn based for others. Chess is a turn based game so having a pong style or pacman quick reflexes game with hand eye coordination really misses the point to me. In the end, The dialogue should be interruptable; there should be more settings; and the price is way too high for the amount of content. We finally found the later games, which are better. (Tap all pieces that are attacked, for one is such a good basic board sight game). I love chessbase, but this is not to snuff. And I am a chess educator, & lifelong chessplayer. Save your money and stay away. Try chesskid adventure, which is new, or the entertaining play magnus apps.

Really needs an update

This game is quite outdated. All the dialogue is forced, & my kid gets annoyed when she misclicks and it takes her to another screen she didnt want. (Which happens a lot). Then it’s difficult to find the content (though this seems more a “feature” than a bug). The piece set is another issue. No choices there. The games are half okay and half miss too. The dialogue should be interruptable; there should be more settings; and the price is way too high for the level of content. There could be a menu to “goto” a certain location. I love chessbase, but this is terrible. And I am a chess educator, & lifelong chessplayer. Save your money and stay away. Try chesskid adventure, which is new, or the entertaining play magnus apps.

Awesome

I had Fritz and Chester pt. II when I was younger as a computer game and I loved it, I really hope y’all come out with chess in the black castle on the App Store bc I would love to play it. This game settled my desire to play the second one for a little tho

It keeps freezing

I have had this for years as a computer game and love it but this app keeps freezing in the beginning. Very disappointing.
