It's the dawn of superpowers! Grab a cape and stand with the first generation of heroes as they struggle to join society and vanquish a criminal conspiracy, or lay the foundation to become the first villain. "The Best of Us" is an interactive novel by Teo Kuusela, author of "Lords of Aswick." Your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--127,000 words, without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination. • Choose your powers: freeze your opponents, or carry them to the skies. • Don your very own hero uniform and save the city of Pacifica. • Face your fellow heroes and uncover a conspiracy. • Decide the future of heroes: dangerous vigilantes, or paragons of justice? • Lay the foundation for a better future, and perhaps profit from it as well.
Powers
Think this at least should be power of 4 set of power than three
Garbage
How did this get published?
Had potential
Failed miserably. I'm getting tired of these games not having any choices.
I paid three dollars for this?
What a waste of time and money. Not even close to what I hoped for or what this book could have been. I should have known from the poor looking app image. Played this game several times just hoping for something good but it's just to narrative in style. I respect what the writer was going for and what this could have been. So I gave it two stars. This writer has a ways to goad does the game mechanics.
Downhill from here
They say certain things flow downhill. Rivers, balls, excrement, this story. Starts off well, lots of backstory and character building then it sort of gets thinner and thinner until you're left with nothing but the feeling this game was published by EA and pushed out the door far too soon. Worth the $3 but it could have been so much more.
A lot of potential wasted
I was really excited about this game since I read the open beta, with the in depth creation of your PC, I assumed that the story and characters would be just as complex and interesting. That was sadly not the case. The dialogue between characters is often just lengthy exposition, with little to no interaction between your character and others. And nothing really happens in the story, it's all just one group of people talking about what another group of people did, and that pushes you along to a final fight (which I couldn't care about because I felt there was no attachment between my character and the "conflict" of this story). I could go on and cite specific examples in great detail, but that would make this review no better than this story, where what little happens is only driven by whether you care about all the exposition building up to it or not.
Zero stars.
If you want to know how this game is, just look at the title card. Awful, crappy drawing that a four year old can make with his own feces. The game is the exact same as it was on the forums. It's full of grammar and spelling errors the plot line is boring with no character development and little meaningful dialogue, and no relationship building. On top of that your powers/costume barely is referenced throughout the story. Don't put your money into this half finished, childish doodles and buy something else. Honestly buy yourself a cookie and you'll get more enjoyment for a longer period of time then this "story." Good day.
Bug fixes. If you enjoy "Best of Us", please leave us a written review. It really helps!
