The Systematic Approach to Tasting® (SAT) is a method of note taking developed by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust to make tasting notes more objective and comparable. The methodology breaks down the evaluation of wine, spirits or sake into appearance, nose, palate and conclusion, supported by universal terminology. The SAT is published at four progressive levels of difficulty in support of the four levels WSET qualifications available. This app has been built for wines at level two making it suitable for those who are new to the SAT method as well as those that have completed WSET courses. A systematic approach to tasting provides wine tasters with a foundation on which to build and develop their skills. The SAT forms an integral part of all WSET courses. The Wine & Spirit Education Trust Founded in 1969, the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) is the largest global provider of wine, spirits and sake qualifications. Trusted by the world’s most recognised drinks organisations, WSET has led the design and delivery of wine and spirit education for five decades and since 2004 over half a million candidates have taken a WSET qualification. With four progressive levels of study offered through a network of course providers in more than 70 countries and translated into multiple languages, WSET qualifications inspire and empower drinks professionals and enthusiasts. Annoying
Well thats annoying I cant edit or draft my tastings. Headed to a group tasting and I want to input the wines were tasting so I don't have to pause to input all the basic wine info (that should be importable from vivino).
Amateurish
Keeps crashing when you try to type the primary nose marker that is not on the internal list but starts with a letter that is present on the internal list. The alcohol percentages are a silly drop-down with 0.5% increments so you have to cheat by copying and pasting them from Notes app No place to enter rim variation. No way to edit old entries. No way to set the tasting date, other than it auto sets to today.
Too complex but incomplete
This is a good start, but I won’t use it until it’s in better shape. It’s too complex: so many screens and taps to add a wine. You have to be able to edit, that’s a basic requirement. It doesn’t have all the AVAs continuing the myth that there are only a few wine regions in the USA. Photo label recognition… it’s been around for years! Fix all these then I’ll be more interested.
Love it but needs a few tweaks
Love the logical progression. As others said should be able to edit. Starting to type certain aromas or flavors cause an immediate crash losing that wine and having to start over. Would be great to have producer also listed in main list. Would be great to remember producer and non-default grapes once entered for subsequent use. Thinking about taking a WSET course now though.
Great if basic tasting notes app
I hope some day they make the notes editable! It’s my main issue with the app. Other than that it’s a very useful tool.
Only for level 2
I love the app but I don’t understand why one could change the tasting level based the level the student is on.
A Major Feature is Missing
I love the app for doing personal wine tastings to help me appreciate the world of wine as a wine student. However, I don’t understand how the app does not allow you to edit your tasting notes. I made a tasting note for a Chianti Classico Gran Selezione on 2/20/21 and misspelled the name of the winery. When I click on the tasting note there is not way to edit it to spell it correctly.
We’ve updated the app to add new features and to fix some bugs. What’s new? You can now export your tasting notes. Export them singly making them easy to share or export your whole library.
