Improved app, but still needs work
App has improved since I’ve owned my 800 series (about 2 years). But the connection problems are still very annoying. If the app is working, it’s fantastic. Buts it’s a big IF. A few other notes on the smoker: - I prefer the quality of meat on the gravity series over a pellet grill. To me it’s the closest flavor/quality to a side by side but much easier to use. - I had issues with my fan randomly turning off and it ruined one cook. I’ve since replaced my fan with a new one and it’s worked fine for the last few cooks. Hope that continues. Replacement fan was only $15. - I typically leave my smoker in one spot, but it does move around easier than any smoker I’ve ever owned so if that’s important to you it’s a big plus.

Don’t buy this product expecting the app to work. I need to delete my device and add a new device every time so my app connects to my 1050 gravity smoker. Half of the reason I bought this smoker was because of the ap, expecting it to work. It’s absolutely horrible. The smoker works just fine and holds temp well. Tons of space for plenty of food inside the smoker. Please update and fix your app Masterbuilt!

United States2 Years + w/o issues
In Dec I’ll have my gravity fed smoker 3 years without issues. The temp control works consistently well. I set the temp and it hold within a narrow range. No issue with the electronics or the fan. Food tastes great with a good smoke ring. I recommend this smoker over pellet grills or electric.

1. I have to re-pair my grill every time I use it!! Unacceptable. 2. The fan just quits for no real reason. Cycle power and it works again for a while. 3. The trending graphs might work 1 out of 10 times. All other times it shows a previous cook date with just one dot. Not a line. Remove if you can’t make it work correctly. 4. No alarms on the app to tell you when the grill catches fire or stops heating!!! 5. I have to try several times to change temperature setting from my phone. If I have to walk to the grill to confirm this, why even bother with an app?!

I love my smoker, got it around August of 2023. The first time I used the app it worked amazing, but ever since I want to say it has worked maybe 4 total times. I don’t mind using it manually but it would be nice for the app to work every time so I can leave the grill alone and set a timer instead of having to set one manually every time.

When the app worked it was great. The problem is, it doesn’t work anymore. It will not connect and update while you are cooking, it freezes and will not refresh. It is a great concept, just doesn’t work. At least the smoker works flawlessly. Just wish they could get the app to work as good as it. I thought I had a workaround to keep it connected. You just have to add it every time you want to smoke that way it’ll work for that smoke session. Because the next time you fired up to smoke some delicious food- the app won’t work. Scratch that, the app won’t even work for 1 session. Get with Masterbuilt and fix this app.
