MacGourmet Mobile is a great solution to save your cooking recipes to Apple mobile device(s). We start you off with almost 200 recipes and you can delete, add, import or whatever you want. if you are user of MacGourmet Deluxe 4 for Mac you can use a DropBox account to view recipes that you saved on your Mac . Recipes, Shopping Lists, Wine Notes, Cooking Notes and My Lists are transferred. You may also manually transfer data using the finder to an iOS device and perform a manual sync.
Do not trust this company
My gourmet iOS app refuses to open on my iPhone, and after several emails to their customer service I still didn't get a reply or acknowledgement of the problem. I had ALL my recipes on there, and now they are lost. No way to transfer recipes to the new version macgourmet mobile or their paid desktop version mcgourmet deluxe since I can’t even open the original app, and it doesn’t exist anymore on the App Store so I can’t even try reloading the app. But even before the crash, couldn’t sync recipes. What a horrible design. I wish I hadn’t trusted all my recipes to them. DO NOT USE THEIR SOFTWARE!
Dead on Arrival
The old app synced. This one doesn’t do it right. Only a small fraction of my recipes are retrieved. Mysteriously, the count does not match in Recent Imports and the Recipe Index. Not what one expects from Mariner. Longtime problem and they haven’t fixed it.
No longer a useful app-Don’t Buy it!
They stopped supporting the syncing feature which was the real benefit of the app. What used to be an amazing app that synced well has become basically useless and for them to say manually sync with finder means they aren’t trying to make it work. It should be removed from the App Store.
Appears to be out of business
Several parts of website are non-functional. Getting assistance appears to range from glacially slow to impossible. Better Business Bureau suggests there are no employees.
I miss the old app!
Mac Gourmet was once the best recipe app out there and even using the old app runs circles around the other recipe apps available. I miss the syncing features between my computer, phone, iPad. Please someone resuscitate this wonderfully crafted app!
Syncing non existent
I have been emailing and asking for assistance for years and they constantly say “we are working on it” or “we are waiting on Apple”. I can’t even get any of my recipes on my phone. This used to be a great desktop program but if you can’t have on or sync with your phone, it’s useless. Wish I could give zero stars!!
Literally worse than useless at this point
I know, right? Cruelly bold claim to make, but hear me out. Beyond the incomplete dark mode and borked Dropbox implementations, it’s pretty bad, but it goes beyond. But first, here’s a neat little trick: If you connect your mobile device to the iPhone, and open it in the Finder, you can go to the Files tab, scroll down to the MacGourmet Mobile app, and see what files are in there. You could then copy the file MacGourmet4Database.mgdatabase into the app there to get perfect synchronization between MacGourmet Mac and MacGourmet mobile. ONCE. The first time after copying over that file, you’ll see everything in MG Mobile that you have on MG Mac. But if you quit MG Mobile and restart it, the database reverts to what it was. Anything you’d put in will be gone. Hope you remembered to hold option down when you moved that mgdatabase file… Oh sure, you could copy the file manually every time you wanted to use it. But every time you ran it, you’d have to copy it again later.
