App needs updated
This app does not work very well with iPhone 14/15. You cannot use the back button very easily when browsing recipes. Some text is behind the Dynamic Island. One of my other issues is when you are browsing recipes and if you are able to get the back button to work, you are taken to the top of the list.

I love the oven and all the features it comes with, my one complaint is that everything has to be done from the screen on the oven. I really like that I can find recipes and send it to the oven, what I wish I could do is set up a custom cook on my phone and then just send it to the oven so it’s ready to cook all I have to do is start it. Going through the menus on the screen to set up a custom cook is not very user friendly.

I’ve written the company multiple times over the last 6 months asking when there will be proper notifications added to the Brava oven. As it is there’s only a pop up banner type notification so if you’re not looking at your iPhone or Apple Watch screen when it pops up you’re not going to be notified. I’ve literally begged for at least a tactile or haptic notification but it wasn’t included in the latest software update. A sound notification would be awesome but it just isn’t happening. The oven itself is okay but overpriced. You will need to rethink how you cook and pretty much without using sauces or marinades. If I had it to do over I wouldn’t have made the purchase.

2022 Updated Review: STILL No iPad App. Inexcusable—but still an amazing appliance. ————————— Honestly the only thing keeping me from giving this a 5/5 is that it’s iPhone only. I have an iPad I keep in the kitchen for recipes and other stuff, and that I have to use it in portrait mode using a blown up iPhone app is inexcusable in 2020. Get your iOS developer to spend a week getting the app laid out for an iPad and it’ll be perfect.

This oven has incredible potential and I can only see great things down the road for it. As a bodybuilder I’ve been using an advanced meal prep method for many years but it’s always the same food day after day. With this oven I can have fresh meals with several different combinations of foods prepared and ready to eat in less than 30 minutes. That’s a game changer for those of us that prefer fresh and healthy meals. The oven isn’t without faults though as you’ll need to learn a new way to season your foods. Trust me if you try to use sauces or even certain types of oils to cook proteins, think barbecue ribs or steak Montreal, you’re going to get a house full of smoke and potentially even a fire. Once you master this learning curve you’re going to love it. I’m thinking that the actual light bulbs need some sort of protective covering because when you try to clean the oven there’s no way to do so without touching them. It’s outlined in the instructions to avoid contact with the bulbs. There should also be an interior light that comes on when the door is opened so as to make loading the trays of food easier. There’s several different grooves inside and some of them aren’t for the trays. There’s nothing worse than your food sliding around or even falling off when the tray gets misaligned. The reason I gave this a 3 star review is mostly because with all said about the oven it’s still a game changer that I use at minimum twice daily but the app will only get 1 star. The app is on the right track but my issue with it is that it will only send a banner notification to my iPhone or Apple Watch. I’ve contacted Brava repeatedly basically begging for at least a haptic notification or even better an audio alert but after several months nothing is done about it. I’ve explained that not everyone is constantly staring at their screen so those banner notifications are basically useless. Aside from wanting fresh meals prepared daily I had assumed that I wouldn’t be tied to the kitchen in order to make this happen. I’ve also explained to Brava that this “Tesla” of ovens would fit perfectly into the voice assistant market with devices such as Alexa. If the app was on the Alexa environment I could use my echo show which sits right next to the oven to browse recipes then simply transfer the settings to the oven using voice control. Not only this but if I’m watching tv in another room I would be notified through Alexa that my meal is nearly done and or needing attention. Since the oven has a camera I could simply view the progress right there on my tv and add a sear or doneness adjustment to my meal without having to run to the kitchen. I definitely think Brava is going to be the future of cooking but at it’s current price point it leaves a lot to be desired. Such is the problem of being an early adopter of tech.

Brava is great and all but search is completely broken at least with an iPhone pro max. Search never moves from the loading indicator and if you go to custom cooks it just crashes. I’m updating this review because the problem still exists: on a iPhone 13 max search functionality is still completely busted. The app is pretty much useless. Apple is going to go onto the iPhone 14 soon enough… it’s crazy this problem hasn’t been fixed. Does the Brava team even know how to use the simulators?! Or afford even 1 test device?
