How do I delete

See Finance

I like it but do not get answers sometimes when I ask for help. I find it to be much better than Quickbooks. I would like to see a search for dollar amounts/payees so I can check on duplicate entries. I would like to be able to work on the Payee Journals but have not gotten an answer on how to do this. Overall - I like it. I have asked them to make videos for entries, reports, etc since it has been 50 years since I had college accounting. I would buy it again but I do not have the new program.

I wish the reconcilation of bank statements was a little better. I have used Quickbooks and find this method a little frustrating. Maybe its just me. But I feel it could be better.

Great Alternative to Quicken for Mac

UPDATE: Scimonce has released a new financial management program; I will certainly upgrade into as soon as it makes sense. Great hopes, since this original app has been terrific. Perfectly meets my needs, and the developer support is timely/outstanding. —— Totally agree with reviewer maxfinis. I have been using See Finance since Quicken decided to dumb down their home versions. I don’t require the complexity of QuickBooks, but need someting more than the basics to keep track of some simple home businesses. I paid for and have used the beta versions for years; now that it’s a “full release” I’m happy to support the developers.

Update: no longer Annoying mislabeled transaction field

I totally did not understand the payee field as the drop-down menu within it held only my account names. I see now that I can type in the actual payee and that the info is autosaved. After a speedy reply to my review from customer support, I realizes the error of my ways and upgraded my rating to 4 stars. My apologies for the previous rant.

Don’t like it

I have downloaded SEE successfully, imported from Quicken successfully, but have not been able to set up downloads. Have called three financial institutions for help, only succeeded in getting downloads for three accounts to work, five accounts I cannot make function at all. Tried numerous times, numerous combinations and telephone help has not been successful saying they only have answers for Quicken problems. These are not obscure accounts namely Amazon, PayPal Etc. Would not recommend this program and have requested a refund.

An outstanding financial recording/reporting program

Update: It's tax season again (2017) and once again I'm blown away with how easy SEE Finance makes getting the data for a schedule C form. From re-categorizing things to just obtaining summaries, there are alway multiple ways to get data. One thing I particularly like: if you have a bunch of bank deposits with deposited checks in various categories and are in the ledger window, you can search all the transactions that have, for example, "personal check" somewhere and obtain a total for these and only these transactions occuring between two date limits. Without going to reports where you can set up the same thing. Really simple, really slick. --------------------------------------- I have been using SEE finance for several years, after Intuit dropped support for Quicken for Mac (they have since somewhat reinstated support in the form of Quicken Essentials and more recently a "full" version of Quicken. Intuit's decision resulted in a sudden surge of fiancial programs - I've bought and tried at least 3 and tried Quicken Essentials. Somewhat to my surprise, SEE Finance was just easier to use than any of them, although it wasn't as pretty as some. More than anything else, I want to be able to find transactions quickly and be able to generate reports quickly and on the fly - How much did I spend with XXX in 2014? How does what I spent in 2014 Jan-Jul compare with what I spent in 2015 Jan - Jul? What are all my expenses with the memo "sales tax to be paid" for this year to-date All these are incredibly easy, as the software uses Apple's programming guidlines for tables that enables this sort of powerful filtering in a highly disciplined fashion. Investment reporting is not as full featured - but it is very easy to apply a filter to look at all transactions for "AAPL" for example and get a full picture of what is going on. It would be nice to have things like an Internal Rate of Return, but I rather feel that if you can't calculate this yourself, you are better leaving this alone - not all software seems to do this correctly! Exporting is a breeze, as is importing from banks etc using QFX and other types of files. See Finance is more manual than some of the other programs but it has never left me in the "OMG, what a mess, I'll just start from scratch" state that they have usually left me in, either. Transfer transactions are not linked, so if you change one side, you have to manually change the other - this bothers some, but if you know it's going to be the case, it is easy to allow for. In all, I'm extremely happy, particularly around tax time when I'm preparing a schedule C! It "just works"
