PrintCheck is an easy to use app to print bank checks. Any printer that can print envelopes can be used to print checks from you checkbook. PrintCheck can print checks from the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Canada (fr and en), France, Germany, India(en), Portugal, UK, USA and Spain. Printed checks not only look good but forgery by inflating the amount is more difficult then with a pen/ink written check. Features: -Amount text is automatically written in check's country language while the amount number is entered. -Checks can be crossed and optionally text can be printed between crossing lines. -Portrait and landscape printing is supported -Position and size of check fields can be fine tunned to match a real check. -To help field positioning adjustments, a grid can be printed in inches or centimeters. -Check configuration can be exported/imported. -Information about printed checks can be logged to a text file. Worked great before Big Sur
Worked great before upgrading to Big Sur. Now I can't configure check size. No longer works! Grr
WAST MONEY AND TIME.
IT IS VERY BASIC DESIGNED OVER THAN TEN YEAR.
PrintCheck setup
I downloaded the app and started setting it up. Using a ruler I was able to set it up in minutes. Soon I was fine tuning it for exact placement in each field. It does exactly what I wanted since the accounting program I use does not have check writing capabilities. The hardest part was figuring out how to change the settings in each field. That took a couple of minutes. Using a ruler makes the whole setup process faxt and easy.
Not compatible with HP printers
I have two new HP printers and neither one will print paper as small as 2.75 X 6, normal check size. I can print all sorts of envelopes but not checks. Does not work as advertised.
From 4 stars to 1 star on last update
EVEN MORE BAD NEWS. This program DOES NOT work with El Capitan. UPDATE: What a waste. This app will STILL NOT properly align any checks. Layout continues to "shift" from one launch of this app to the next. Impossible to use. BEWARE! UPDATE: We’re 5 months past the last release, and there’s still no update or fix for the crappy alignment issue that v 1.2.1 introduced. The alignment routine is worse in v 1.2.1 than in any other verison and I refuse to redo all of my setups… My advice remains unchanged at this point: STAY AWAY FROM THIS APP - STILL NOT WORTH THE INVESTMENT. Apparently, the author doesn’t think it’s worth it, either, as he has refused to correct the issues and no longer responds to any emails. UPDATE: Version 1.2.1 was released today. It fixes the issue that caused my printer to spew 3-4 extra pages with every check that I printed… however, it still doesn't line up with the layouts from v1.1.1. I have 5 accounts configured, and rather than redo everything, I have fallen back to v1.1.1. There's no excuse for shoddy work… especially when I am paying for it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS APP - STILL NOT WORTH THE INVESTMENT. UPDATE: Version 1.2.0 screwed up the alignment… the previously configured check layout doesn't work any more… and now, when printing checks, the app causes my printer to spew 3 or 4 pages of paper as well as a mis-aligned check. I had to pull v 1.1.1 back from my Time Machine backup. It was supposed to fix issues with Mountain Lion (which I did not experience)… all this did was screw it up royally. Emailed support but still waiting for a response. It's been almost a month and no fix for the new issues and NO RESPONSE to emails requesting assistance. STAY AWAY FROM THIS APP UNTIL THE ISSUES ARE RESOLVED. Frustrated with the lack of manageable "checkbook" type apps that also print checks, I found PrintCheck and gave it a go. (I used the free demo version from their website). This does what it claims to do - allows you to print checks on your preprinted check stock. But it could use a few additional features and options to make it truly usable. I use the full-size business checks (3 to a page) that I originally bought to use with Quicken/Windows. I have the layout configured and they print pefectly… except that I can only print one check at a time, and ONLY in portrait mode. There is no option for being able to configure custom "sheet" size so that I can tear the checks apart and feed them into my printer length-wise. So I am forced trying to insert the last check properly into my printer - which has become a hit or miss proposition for the last check on each page. This app would be perfect if it allowed for multiple checks to be printed at a time, and if it allowed for full page configuration in landscape mode. I have figured out how to print in landscape mode. However, you are still limited to printing a single check at a time. It would also be helpful to be able to save checks/payees/amounts for recurring check writing. Still a solid 3-star performer.
A very useful if you have preprinted checks
I felt compelled to write this review because it seems that the people who have panned this app don’t understand that it is not designed to print the checks from scratch. It is meant for printer friendly checks. It took about 30 minutes to align all the fields with the check. The process was intuitive. I like this app a lot. It allows me to send people I do business with professional looking checks.
