amazing app for cash flow
I use this app for over 8 years to predict my bank accounts balances and for family budget. Its easy to use, intuitive, highly useful for these purposes and worth every dollar spent on it
All I needed
I just want basic account tracking features and this app has always provided exactly what I need. I do manual entry and reconciling, use scheduled transaction, record account transfers, can see cleared and running balances, and was able to customize the display and transaction entry formats. Beyond those basics I cannot comment. I do have one change request...I find the ' ' to add a transaction and to add a new account to be very close making it too easy to click the wrong one (add account).
RUN FROM THIS APP!
I used the original app for over 10 years, it was simple & great. I don't know who took over development but w/ the bad instructions & poorly written english I'd be VERY concerned about the safety of you personal financial data. After updating to ios 14.6 I couldn't access Pocketmoney. 1st problem - NO SUPPORT, I couldn't access the app & there website has NO way of contacting them directly. 2nd problem - the developer didn't update the original app? After going online I find out someone else took over development & created a seperate app which is horrible to use. 3rd problem - any help in the new app has poorly written instruction with bad english and bad instructions. For example they tell you to pull the sql file from the old app & import it via the "web server" (which the desktop version doesn't have) & the IOS app DOESN'T list sql files under the import options! This is another example of let's take a good thing & "make it better"..only to make it one of the worst user experiences I've had...OH and it's full of ads now and switched to a subscription model too. Do yourself a favor and FIND SOMETHING ELSE!!!
Getting Support
**This review is ONLY on the support/help available as of March 9, 2021.*** I have a Premium subscription. I am trying to do something and cannot find the answer in the standard Help offering. I need some interaction with *someone*. I tried to log in to the Support Site but it will not allow me to (my email is in use and trying to recover the password tells me I am not allowed to access the site??) There is no phone number or even an email to allow reaching out to the developer for support for getting access to the Support Site. There are a lot of great things I would like to say about this product but it is overshadowed by the simple fact that I cannot get any answer to the questions I have. The paid-for support of my Premium subscription is flawed by its inaccessibility. The only accepatable fix id for the developer to have (at a minimum) an email address in order to provide some point of contat given that the website is not able to be logged in to (at least by me, a paid customer).
Beyond Frustrating
First, I used to use the former PocketMoney and loved it. This version creates obstacles to use at every turn. I downloaded the Mac desktop, and when I went to log in, I got the message that a verification email was being sent to me. That email never arrived after four attempts to have it resent. Then I got a message that my trial period was over --it had never started! --so I had to buy a subscription. I went ahead and tried to suubscribe, thinking that this might be a path to getting into the program. Wrong! I got the same message that a verification email was being sent to me. Still no email. The "support" "offered" is absolutely useless. I found a superior program to use: MoneyWiz. Try it if you can't get anywhere with this useless app.
Long time user of pocket money
I have been using pocket money for almost a decade and always loved it. I was a bit shocked at the full re-write of the app a few months ago, and at first I hated it. However I soon realized that I had such flexibility over the layout and the sorting that once I got it set up, it was far better than the original pocket money. Syncing works flawlessly between my iPhone/iPad. Automatic daily downloads of stock prices keeps my portfolio total accurate without any effort on my part. With Pocket Money on the Mac, I can organize my accounts however I want, and get at-a-glance sub-totals and grand totals to always get an instant view of my finances. Powerful scheduling features and flawless cloud sync are all way better than the original Pocket Money. I will say that the setup, to get it right, does take some effort, but once done to your liking this app works great especially with its iPhone counterpart. This is worth the subscription price to me. Support has been great and they will help you get the app set up to your liking.
It is written in the stars
The opinions of long-time PocketMoney users, both in the Mac App Store and the iOS App store, should make any rationale person reconsider their actions. Sadly, this is not the case with the new owner who has singlehandedly destroyed this once much loved App. RIP PocketMoney.
