Cannot Replace Mint

I tried this app because Mint is shutting down. You can sync your banks and track budgets. All that works. The part that I could not get it to work like I wanted was stuff like recurring payments. It does not breakdown the total amount across the year like Mint does. It just places it on the month that you have to pay it. It’s also not as smart as mint is to deal with credit card payments. It does not learn from transaction categories as you change them to what you want. It required me to go in a manually make too many changes. It just was not for me unfortunately. I might come back in the future but right now it’s not an app I would use.

Good design bad bank account organization

The app has a good design with a great way to visualize how much you’re spending but the actual spending and income numbers are wayyy off due to bad organization of bank accounts that are connected. It’s the worst with credit cards and bank transfers between accounts. My numbers for income and spending are so inflated I can’t understand how much I’m actually spending a month which is the main reason I got the app

Good - but needs some work

When Mint got destroyed by credit karma I was desperately searching for a 1:1 replacement. This app is the closest I’ve found, however it really struggles with keeping everything in sync. I’ve had transactions disappear, never appear, and show up 3-4 times randomly, causing my budget to get super out of whack. This app requires a LOT of manual intervention to keep transactions from my bank accurate, which defeats the whole purpose of using it. When it works it’s great, but every month I notice this bug at least once. Transaction de-dupe and inaccuracy are brutal.

Almost the best replacement for MINT!

I’ve been testing Apps to replace Mint and have not been pleased with the free options (Empower and Piere), but I also hate subscription models, so I’ve narrowed it to the few that offer one-time purchase. Buddy is the most complete (with Wallet, PocketGuard and Spendee being the other similar Apps). Buddy is so close to being the complete package that I’m hopeful their developers will seize the opportunity to attract a huge following of “Mint Refugees” Buddy Pros: iPad App, iOS & Mac Apps!, Mint Import, Wise connects (but not great), manual cash transactions, nice monthly trends, One time purchase (find in iOS for $50), shared user, rollover budget Cons: no multi Currency (the Wise accounts all come through as the same currency!), no split transactions or transaction rules. The later two features should be a given for Expense Apps. The multi currency integration (like Wallet and Spendee) could put Buddy ahead of all the others. UPDATE: currently you cannot link two different logins from the same institution (example: if your spouse and you have two Credit Card accounts with Chase you CANNOT link both). That’s a big strike against, as most other Apps using Plaid, MX and even Yodlee include this feature with no problem. Developers responded that they’re aware of the shortcoming and hope to add it someday.

Too many bugs

I did a trial and loved the look and simplicity of this app after trying many different apps out there. Loved it so much that I purchased the annual subscription. After a few weeks it was apparent that the application is way too young to be out in production or charging for use so buyers beware. Now that I go back and read through some of the low rated reviews, I should have paid more attention. Lots of bugs, response time of support team is very slow and when something can’t be fixed they don’t seem to respond until you reach out multiple times. I asked for a refund since it’s not an app that I can rely on but now am having to go through Apple which doesn’t allow me to even select to request a refund. Very disappointing.

Love this app

Love this app so much! Makes it incredibly easy to budget and to save money. I do wish that it had a website or a desktop app though. I’d pay extra for that ability!

This week we are launching a new feature called Weekly Summary! Weekly Summary will help you stay on top of your finances by letting you look back at last week's spending. Think of it a bit like those 'year in review' things, except it's for a week instead of a whole year. There's also a new notification telling you when there's a new Weekly Summary available in the app (it can be disabled in Settings).

Apart from Weekly Summary, this update also includes ye olde 'performance improvements and bug fixes' to help you budget as smoothly as possible.
