Explore the world of haiku with this app from The Haiku Foundation. THF Haiku puts a collection of hundreds of beautiful poems from around the world at your fingertips so you can enjoy them anywhere. Search through the library by author, source, or content, or shake your phone for a random selection from the entire collection. As Jim Kacian, founder of The Haiku Foundation, says: "Live with these poems a little bit every day and you will find yourself entering a world of special noticing, heightened significance, and more natural relationships." “An excellently curated collection of haiku, this includes thoughtful translations of works by Japanese masters, poems by some of the top modern poets (including a few not normally associated with haiku), and fine works by unknown — or little-known — writers.”
Bogus. Nor even haiku
I started with five randoms and four didn’t even have the 5-7-5 meter. I gave up and will delete it after this review.
One of my favorite apps
I read a haiku each morning—they are always profound and absolutely lovely in their own way.
Doesn't stop!
Nice idea. Random play scrolls through the selections with out stopping so the only way to read a haiku is by selecting one from the library. Has potential.
Thought provoking
Inspirational. Others words enlighten me, and cure writers block. 💛 Twitter @haikuciani
Excellent poems; wide-ranging eras and styles
An excellently curated collection of haiku, this includes thoughtful translations of works by Japanese masters, poems by some of the top modern poets (including a few not normally associated with haiku), and fine works by unknown -- or little-known -- writers. You can let the application choose a random haiku, or leaf through a library of poets and first lines. For anybody who appreciates poetry, THF Haiku is a wise purchase. If the developers expand this periodically, or offer annual updates, it will be a prize.
Just crashes
Thought it was supposed to be 5-7-5. Where's the haiku in crash? (Nothing lower than one star, so gave it a one.)
Twitter Bug
I am a big fan of this app. It's a fantastic cross section of contemporary English language haiku and great to read anywhere. Plus the share features are great. The only reason I didn't give the app 5 stars is because of a Twitter Bug that came about in the most recent update. When you tweet from the app you can't get back to the haiku. Your stuck on the tweet page and have to close the app and reopen it to read more. This wasn't a problem on the initial release. Also, for my wish list, it would be cool if when you tweet the haiku that some hash tags could be auto included in the tweet such as "#haiku" or "#thf" for The Haiku Foundation. This would help the app folks and THF up their rankings in the wild.
