Absolute disaster of an app on Apple TV 4K
How this app maintains a 4 star rating is highly suspect. The UI, at least on Apple TV 4K, is extremely buggy. Very frequently, the recent channels feature does not work. You must exit out of that menu and try again. Other times it has not allowed me to fully scroll the channel guide, (only scrolls between maybe 5 channels and stops). Still other times the app randomly decides to turn on some sort of chasing dvr function which automatically brings you back to where you left a program when changing channels, but won’t let you fast fwd through commercials to catch up live. There is no place anywhere to turn this feature on or off, and no rhyme or reason as to which channels this “works” on. There are also other ridiculous “features” such as “starts in one min” which is fine but when that notification shows you can not simply go to that channel when selected. You can only choose to dvr the program. Longer list of complaints but that is enough for now.

I really love this app, but it’s just not for me because there is way to many adds first I tried to watch Willy wonka and the chocolate factory but every 6 minutes there was 5 adds in a row to watch then go back to the movie I’m really annoyed with this please fix.

Update: having used it for a month, it is mostly functional but poor. Stops play on phone when I try to watch and open another app (this is possible in YouTube tv). It drops or changes the station when in my pocket and walking (didn’t happen with YouTube tv). I’ll be switching back to YouTube tv as soon as I can. I switched to Sling from YouTube TV (which was nearly perfect in my eyes) for financial reasons. Only saving $23/month, but made sense to try it as my Spouse is out of work. Getting used to a new interface can be a pain, so I take that into consideration. The good: it has a DVR (but only 200 hours, as opposed to UNLIMITED on YouTube tv), which I use frequently to catch programs. I have to keep a close eye on how many hours I have used. They have the major cable news channels (and some right-wing not so major news channels). Sling offers music channels from Vevo. They offer several Showtime channels for streaming. They have an OnDemand service that has several movies and tv shows (tv shows all have commercials). Lots of ‘free’ tv streams showing movies, old game shows (you can watch game shows from 70s, 80s, etc.). The Not Good: Sling does not have local PBS channel to stream- which is ludicrous. They stream some shows, but can’t seem to find PBS News Hour. HOWEVER they seem to have every fn local Fox News channel (after their $787M fine, I wonder why). They don’t carry CBS programming … have to use an app -Paramount Plus. Haven’t figured out a way to customize my view of channels (available on YouTube tv) except by labeling channels as favorites. App performance is generally decent. However, when out walking, listening to a program, I’ve noticed the movement of walking can frequently change the channel (!?)! When I open a show that is currently being recorded, you must go to DVR recording, find the show, and start it. Going to a show already in progress on the guide and opening it starts at that point in the program. To go backwards to beginning of show, you have to go to DVR and find that program, open it, and set it back at start time (YouTube tv asks if you want to start in the middle, or go to beginning of program). Resuming shows requires you to scroll through several rows of new shows before you get to the Resume sections. Not sure if I will keep Sling or go back to YouTube Tv once this finance pinch ends. Sling has some work to do.

Ever since Dish took over Sling, the quality has diminished considerably. Feeds constantly get interrupted and God forbid you’re in the middle of a show, movie, or sporting event at the top of the hour. Constantly reverts back to the previous hour. Just trash. And before you question my bandwidth, I’m running consistent 1gig speeds. No issues with other streaming services.

I never complain in reviews (don’t like confrontation) but I had to say something this time. I Got sling to watch it on tv with my husband. Can’t cast it on tv I followed all the steps and still nada. I even restarted my chromecast and wifi and still nothing. So upset. Im tired and just wanted to watch the basketball game but I guess not I’ll just have to call it day. Usshhh.
