What happened?
I spent hours trying to figure out why I couldn’t get the main PAX app set up until I realized they made an entire new app for it Pax east 2020. Why?!? The app was much worse than the easy to use app that was used previous years. This app was extremely hard to navigate, and the map wasn’t as dynamic, so it took a lot longer to find specific places and panels, so we didn’t end up getting to get to everything we wanted to.
Why not keep the PAX app?
I don’t understand the point of making a new app for PAX East when the old PAX app was fine and worked across all PAX cons. I would also like to make a suggestion: There should be a way to “favorite” or save exhibitors from the list that you are interested in visiting so we’re not scanning through the whole list every time we want to go somewhere specific.
Failing at its function
The schedule can’t be filtered so it’s nearly useless with tons of tournament spam. This is so much worse than every year before.
Guide App was more useful
Like most are saying the old guide app had far more functionality being able to mark what you wanted to do and when making a personalized schedule.
Bring back Guidebook, here is why...
Schedule view lacks filters by event type (only able to sort by location and time) and is extremely difficult to view on a mobile phone. Possibly optimized for a tablet. Unable to set reminder duration when saving an event. You have to go to the settings to change reminder duration. Schedule has in-line advertisements, as if paying hundreds of dollars with an ever increasing cost to attend wasn’t enough money already. Zero features have been improved and many appear missing. Available space on the screen seems to be taken by empty space instead of utilized like the old Guidebook accomplished well. Bring back Guidebook. I have been attending since 2010 and I’d rather have no app than this one.
Doesn’t work- no customer support
Before I start trashing the app, I will say there are a lot of convenient things about it. I like the new schedule layout and the accessibility to the maps. That’s about it. I keep trying to register/ connect my badges but it just keeps “thinking.” The screen greys out and there’s this spinny thing. I uninstalled/ reinstalled but that didn’t help. The “report a problem” on the app isn’t for tech issues. (But it is to request help from things like harassment, I’ll give this another star.) If I request app help from the store front, it takes me to the general website, which isn’t helpful at all. I’m sure in the end this will most likely get sorted, but the fact that I’ve been trying to fix this or to even find a contact for hours is a bit ridiculous.
This new version includes performance fixes.
