I *USED* to be able to download recorded content to view while offline. It never worked reliably, so I guess rather than fix it, the functionality has been removed. Nice …

This is a once upon a time solid dependable and very useful app but due to the multiple “upgrades” that slowly but surely gutted the app it’s not so good anymore! If you have constant STRONG WiFi you might be ok, but if you rely on cell signal to watch streaming your going to be disappointed I’d be willing to bet. The app used to allow you to download recorded programs from your DVR to watch anywhere with or without any kind of cell or WiFi signal which made it world class in my book but now they have removed this ability and your forced to watch via streaming with constant stops and restarts and buffering that can last for minutes at a time and usually ends with you shutting program down and doing a total restart! From great app to extremely aggravating in the matter of one very unthoughtful DOWNgrade in the form of an “update”! I wish Dish management and techs had to view their programs exactly as I have to view mine, I can assure you the download to view section of this app would reappear IMMEDIATELY!!! But obviously they all have scorching unrealistic cell service because us in the real world are suffering for no apparent reason? Yes I’m searching for a new entertainment service because of this after being with Dish since 1996… I use remotely every single day and need offsite reliability like this app used to provide. Thanks for nothing Dish…
United StatesCan’t transfer dvr shows to phone anymore
The old app used to let you transfer prime time tv shows to your phone to watch offline. I used this feature all the time. Now you can’t do that. When I try and watch dvr shows by streaming them they always buffer or play the show with no sound so stopped trying to do that. Getting rid of the ability to transfer shows from the dvr to your Phone was the best part of the old app. Not being able to do that anymore makes this app useless to me. Bring back the transfer feature.

Before writing this review, I tried to get help from Dish, only to discover that they couldn’t. The “app support ” link for the application just takes you to the Dish website, which is absolutely useless. Even though it can see my DVR, Dish Anywhere shows me recordings that are not on my DVR and not any of the recordings that ARE on the DVR. After a couple of days, it finally decided to show the programs that I am trying to record. If I want to watch a live program, it almost always streams it from the Internet instead of my DVR. When it does this, you can’t pause the program or rewind to a previous point in your watch session. Why? Can’t it open a file and record the data so you can rewind? When you try to watch something that isn’t available via streaming, the compression is horrible (thanks Sling) and is probably down to 480p or 480i. If I’m on my home network, why can’t it just stream the raw video file? I got this so my wife, who is chronically ill, could watch TV on her iPad. That isn’t going to happen any time soon.

I love Dish!! Have Directv at another home and I prefer Dish by far!! Love that it tapes All my prime channels without having to set it. Just wish there was a way to pick the channels I watch and have my bill lower.
