Explore, find, learn, teach! Trees PNW is a friendly guide to trees of the Pacific Northwest. It's the perfect app for your walks, hikes, vacations, backyard musings, and for teachers and students at every level. Once you download it, you can use your app wherever you are with no need for an internet connection. This distinguishes it from many other tree apps. Trees PNW helps you learn using easy-to-spot cues for each tree species. The app covers common native trees of Oregon, Washington, and the western half of British Columbia. The more familiar you are with these native trees, the more they will become your friends. Use the app to make your outdoor experiences more enriching.
Used to be great app
When working, this app is the best app for tree ID that I’ve used. Unfortunately, it no longer gives me access to all the photos and ID information when I swipe. Is this due to an iPhone upgrade? I would love it if this app could be fixed. Thank you
Should be great, but it is useless as is
Main page opens, but as soon as any menu or button is touched, the app crashes and closes. The first time I used the app, it had pictures of Douglas fir trees for every single tree. 0% helpful.
Too many technical problems and images missing
This app has the potential to be an excellent resource. The written descriptions of trees are good. However, there are no images of the trees described so it’s not possible to identify the trees by sight. Attempting to use the majority of the home page links results in the app crashing (at least with iOS 17). It’s too bad that, as is, the app is not practical for use; there are too many technical issues with it.
Looks like a great app
Tried clicking on several menu icons like east side trees and it kicks you out of the App. So not fully functional.
Excellent ID tips
The tips to identifying trees in PNW are well-written. Not just for beginners, there is something for everyone learning about our most common trees. App crashes frequently, especially on iPad Air, but I simply restart. One photo error though — please fix! The “leader” photos for western red cedar and hemlock are identical.
PICTURES!!!
I'm so excited!! I was going to delete like I always do the second an app disappoints but I just couldn't for some reason. There is something about this app. It's so well done. It feels like a labor of love. I know the pictures not showing up is a problem and they did not load for me as well. But I kept it. And kept checking back. It's been a week. And today the pictures are all there. BEAUTIFUL images. I'm so glad I kept it! I've been trying to understand the forest I live in and THIS is the app for that. Thank you for all your hard work.
Fantastic Species Identification
Initially the Photos didn’t download, but a quick note to Support and the problem was fixed. Beautiful, sharp Photos of all aspects and ages of trees. Abundance of identifying details given, plus discussion of historical and modern uses. Best Tree App for the PNW I’ve found, by far.
