In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Trees for Seattle launches our new Tree Walk mobile app! Now you can explore Seattle’s urban forest from the safety of your living room or while on your own neighborhood stroll. This is an opportunity to learn more about the trees that make Seattle’s urban forest both unique and important with our self-guided, easy to use, mobile app. Whether you’re a budding botanist or simply interested in how Seattle’s trees contribute to a safer, healthier, more vibrant city, you’ll find an engaging Tree Walk to explore at your own convenience. For many years, dedicated volunteers from our Tree Ambassadors program have shared their extensive knowledge by creating and leading tours of the valuable and notable trees in neighborhoods across Seattle. These informative and engaging tours are the foundation of Seattle Tree Walks. Users can choose from over 15 different routes, with more options to come over the next several months. In addition to gaining some basic tree identification skills, you can explore the deep historical and cultural connections between trees and people, understand how trees are impacted by climate change, and much more. Trees for Seattle is the umbrella program for all of the City of Seattle's urban forestry efforts. Our commitment is to ensure that Seattle's urban forest is healthy, vital, and growing.
Map integration is broken
I got really excited when I discovered this app but seems like it needs an update as the maps integration is totally busted. So you just see a bunch of icons on a blank background making it impossible to use.
App needs updating (2023)
Like others have pointed out, the app version in the store is years old. NO street/ Geo info. If Seattle City gov can’t fund the update, maybe have a crowd-sourced/ Meet-up / hack-a-thon to update? Lots of potential in the app, orig developers were awesome!
This app is so old it no longer works
The version available on September 5, 2023 is version 1.04. In the App Store it shows it was released 3 years ago. In iOS 16.6 on an iPhone 14 Pro the Google Street maps don’t display so you have ZERO chance of finding any trees. The UI is not intuitive. The data in the application is three years old, which because these are living trees, means the information is inaccurate. Come on Seattle, you can do better.
Love the concept but the maps don’t show up
All I can see you’re the walking person icons but not the background Maps. Makes following a walk a little difficult.
Seattle tree walks
It doesn’t seem to work anymore. Bummer! We liked very much the walk we took in west Seattle several months ago but now the app seems totally different and not functional.
Fun, simple, and smart
This app makes it a breeze to get in touch with the beautiful abundance of tree life that adds such deep richness to quality of life in Seattle. Simply stroll anywhere in town to appreciate the opportunities for enhancing your health and intellect. Spread the word!
Fun!
Perfect outdoor activity during COVID-19!
