I bought this for my granddaughter when she was barely 2 1/2 years old. She’s turning three and has derived a lot of joy from it. I think it is well thought out, and superb at supporting skills development. It is always best to have an adult - or older person who is not too directive - be part of the learning experience with your toddler. It’s easy to want to show them what to do, but this is definitely an app that allows your child to figure it out and grow with it. They can explore it alone, but they benefit from your companionship. A wonderful resource, very wholesome and well designed.

Unfortunately, the AI stories are not very engaging or good for children. It’s clear that the human element is needed to create something fun while also ensuring it’s simple and interesting for young readers. To clarify- when I say the human element is needed, I’m not just talking about the humans inputting into ai. Good story is not about an algorithm or a following patterns, like ai does. Story requires heart and understanding the human condition, which a computer can’t do (as is evident with the mediocre story it generates). If Papumba is willing to subject children to an inhuman and uncreative program (that anyone could access anywhere, frankly) just to save a few bucks so they don’t have to pay writers, then that’s pretty concerning. Give your children access at your own risk.
