Developing a good ear can be challenging, as many ear training apps don't offer practical applications. They tend to isolate musical concepts from the context that makes them significant. ChordProg Ear Trainer aims to solve this by providing a more realistic music training experience, moving beyond mere static chords played in root position on a single instrument. ChordProg makes use of real audio clips to teach you how to recognize chord progressions. With 500+ audio clips, there is a lot of material to practice with on your commutes or during downtime when you don't have access to your instrument. The app also has new innovative ways of doing ear training and it's the most comprehensive ear trainer on the app store today. If you have to pass an ear training test to get into a music school, this will help you prepare. The app has exercises for interval recognition, chord recognition, and scale recognition as well as exercises for helping you to recognize chord progressions. My goal is to provide you with the best collection of ear training games on the app store. And the app is updated regularly with new features and ear training tools. Whether you are a music student or music teacher, the app has exercises you can use in your classes or in your exploration of music theory. If you are a teacher, you can use the audio clips in your music classes as examples of different progressions. Whether you are a music student or music teacher, there is probably something useful in the app if you're into ear training
cool app
pretty decent. i just wish that it showed each of the diatonic chords as options when doing the chord progressions instead of just the chords that are in the progression at the moment. that would make it a little more challenging and force you to really know instead of guess.
Very buggy
Contents are good but the app is full of bugs, even the submit bug report feature is buggy
Has Everything
I paid $25 for this app and have no regrets. I’m using it daily and I am FINALLY seeing some improvements in my ear training. It has endless options for ear training on progressions and intervals and so much more. Love it.
Screen freezes
Aimee Nolte, an online music teacher, recommended this app. I installed it on an iPhone 11. I was disappointed to find to get access to all the chords, intervals, etc., you have to pay monthly with automatic billing on your Apple account. There didn’t seem to be any instructions for use. On my iPhone, if a premium option is accidentally selected, the screen freezes & I have to reboot my device to get back to the app. I deleted this app.
Came from Aimee's video
Hi I have just downloaded this app recently after I watched the YouTube video by Aimee. She used a early Android version in that video and seems that one has more advanced features. Especially, the quick response test for chord changes is really fun and I would like to use it. I wonder if you plan to add back those features in later. Thanks!
Incredible potential
This is literally the first app review I’ve written in like a decade of iPhone usage because I love this app that much. It has a long way to go but it perfectly fills a niche I’ve been looking for for so long now. I really hope it gains support because it could be an incredibly valuable tool down the line.
Bugs bugs but could be great
Has the potential to be the best ear trainer I’ve found. Great breadth of excercises and chords. But even though I’m a paying subscriber there are endless NULL errors that ruin progress and you have to force quit the app. Please work on these bugs so this can be a great app. Especially for paying subscribers
