*Get it once in the app store, and will work on both your iPad and iPhone* Rare audio version of the Douay-Rheims Bible translation of St. Jerome from the Latin Vulgate in the 16th Century. For over 300 years, this Bible was the only Catholic English translation of Scripture used. Still considered one of the most faithful and relevant Catholic Bible translations today. Adding to this treasure is the male British accent of the reader of the entire New Testament and most of the Old Testament. Originally recorded in the 1970s onto cassette tapes, and digitally remastered and preserved for your enjoyment. Will work on your iPad as well as your iPhone (see instructions below). Poor Audio with lots of static
Because I paid almost $13 for the audio readings of the Bible, I would think it should be a lot better than what I got. The static or the background noise is very noticeable. And in this day and age I would think this would be easily solved. AlsoThe NArrator has a different accent which isn’t difficult But seems strange. I would love to get my money back.
Love this!
I love this app. The narrator is great, love the accent and the way he reads. Not sure why so many reviewers didn’t like it. It is a beautiful old translation of the Bible. It is lovely. I was happy to pay for it.
Great app but needs fixing
Please fix app! Lamentations book is not playing
FANTASTIC! A HIDDEN GEM!
This is a fantastic audio Bible of the Joway rhymes Catholic translation. It is one of the most accurate to date translations that we have to date, and while the audio is a bit fuzzy, it is well worth the time and the effort to download and listen. I am going to purchase the full out version because of the fantastic content and translation available through this particular version. This translation is authorized for public use by the American bishops and all other bishops association on the planet earth. I am in awe over some of the more negative reviews. That makes me wonder what the reason or motive is for leaving such reviews. To me - such reviews are absolutely diabolical. Take my word for it and download the free version! Be your own judge.
Doesn’t work anymore
I used this app and it worked fine but I stopped using it for a while, maybe a year or more. Now it won’t open. I paid for the extra content. Looks like they haven’t updated it for 3years
In English and not free
What you get free: table of contents and a few chapters read in English For $12.99 you actually get the Vulgate in English. But what I wanted was the original Latin. Keep looking.
Actually costs $13
You can only get the first two chapters of each book for free. The reader is hard to understand due to the static in the recording and the antiquated translation. This would be fine if it was free, but if you want to spend $13 on it I’m sure you could find a better recording than this.
