This App is a full simulation of the successful 16C Scientific RPN calculator. ◇The 16C could display numbers in Hexadecimal, Decimal, Octal and Binary formats using a standard 7 segment display ◇Decimal style (1,234.5 1.234,5) ◇Support Contact ◇16C Functions The 16C provided a wealth of functions for the programmer including. Integer and floating point math. Shift functions: Left and right, arithmetic and non. Rotate functions: Rotate a single position or N positions left or right, through carry or not. Left justify the bits of a word. Masking: Create masks to mask left or right N bits. #B: returned number of bits set in a word Multiply/Divide: Provided functions for multiplying single precision numbers into single precision or double precision results. Likewise, allowed single or double precision dividends. Bitwise Logic: and, or, not, xor Bit setting and testing Flag setting and testing: (user flags and overflow/carry)
Hard to read
Can’t read the yellow labels. Really ruins an otherwise good app. Five stars if they fix it.
Not s real 16c
Hex magnitudes are limited to FFFF. I bought it to escape that limitation in another calculator and was disappointed. I'll delete it. Should have read the reviews. I made the mistake of trying it again on my new ‘phone. There is no way to close it on my XR. There is no drag- up bar, and the app will not rotate out of landscape orientation.
Accurate but needs UX love...
UPDATE 190808: Dev said they'd fix readability but no change _many_ months later, support seems lacking. shame too, had potential. --- It's a surprisingly accurate 16c emulation (though I've found a few minor issues). Alas, color of keypad "shiny" background towards center makes yellow labels almost unreadable. needs a darker background with more contrast. Also not sure email sent to support regarding bugs is getting through, no replies received. In general decent solid emulator -- with some UX tweaks and a few bug fixes it would earn 5 stars!
Good but poor readability
I loved my HP 16 C. (I wonder whatever happened to it.) This app is an inexpensive emulator that does a good job. My biggest complaint is poor readability of the yellow function labels, especially in the central area. Please get rid of the background color gradient!
Not the 16c! (Fixed)
The developer has fixed this issue and everything seems to be working. Original Review: I bought this for the programmer’s tools like hex to decimal, binary conversions, etc. This app does not not have any of this. Instead, it the HP11c engineering calculator. I have both the real HP16c and HP11C, so I’m sure. What a bummer! IT IS NOT WHAT IS ADVERTISED!!!
It will do more than 16 bits
Been looking for a 16c since the old app I have was never updated to iOS 11. Looks like it works in two minutes playing with it (and I do have a real 16C at home). To respond to an earlier review... it will do more than 64 bits. Go to decimal mode, enter 32 and then do f wsize. That sets the word size. It will even do 64 bits, you have to scroll the display with g arrows (on the STO RCL buttons). Not convenient but it works and matches what I recall of the 16c (I have not used that particular function in years). The dots on either side of the h (or b, d, o) indicate that scrolling is needed. Thanks for the app, now I can finally upgrade from iOS 10...
has an AND problem
everything went fine until I tried to AND 0x72 with 0x3f Th eresult was 33 not 32 tried using binary and got the same results.
