Almost perfect
Checks all my boxes for player but one. No playlist. I often listen to books in my car and don’t want to fumble to start the next book. A minor bit is no way to arrange books into a series list. A playlist would solve this however. That said I like the controls and the UI. If playlist is not important to you then I would recommend.

Update 3: After months of daily use I’ve concluded it’s the best available! Yes, there are small quirks but once you sort out your best method of use it’s very reliable. Give it more than a few minutes tryout and you’ll be rewarded! Desolately needs sync across devices and the “end of chapter” timer able to use the auto restart feature but the rest is near perfect. Hopefully the dev will consider this.

I love this dev’s previous app, MP3 Book Player, and was surprised that they made a new app. But I suppose there’s only so much you can do to upgrade an engine before you decide it’s just better to start a new one from scratch. I love the new audio features, and I can’t imagine life without them now. This is the only app I will use for audiobooks from now on. I haven’t used it for music yet. The only thing that is missing is syncing across devices. I have this on my iPad, but even with iCloud backup sync turned on, I had to airdrop the book to my iPhone, add it to my phone’s library and find the same position I was in earlier. I imagine that if I want to listen on my iPad again I’ll have to search for my “page” all over again. It also means I have to rebuild my library on each new app. It should have a folder in iCloud to sync to all devices from.

I purchased ListenBook Pro and find the app very useful, with an elegant and well-designed interface. Not getting 5 stars due to a few glaring bugs that should be fixed: 1) the search function does not work (after typing the first character the keyboard hides itself) 2) the button located below the Play button does not work (I assume its function is to override “dark mode” system settings, but cannot tell for sure since this is not documented in the Help section which, by the way, pertains to a different app, i.e. MP3 Audiobook Player). Finally, it would be useful to be able to relocate book icons in the main window by long pressing and dragging them to a new position, as well as being able to manage files via the Files app. Hopefully, the developer will add these features soon.

Update 2: last update fixed the fuzzy cover images. Still has minor layout bugs but refreshing booklist fixes it. Not a biggie. This app is improving day by day. Worth the price as is though. Important things all work fine. Just cosmetic things are left as far as I can tell. I’ve found that rather than loading a list of files, it works better if the files are in a folder and you just add the folder. Seems to work smoother that way. Update: Updated rating. The last release seems to have corrected the issue with Finder file loading I referenced below. You still need to be patient when loading books since there is no progress bar as it loads and assembles the files into one book. Works well enough but you have to give it a little time. Also found the Cover art very fuzzy even when a file works crisply in other players. Trivial but annoying. Lastly the round icon below the play/pause button doesn’t appear to do anything on my phone. Not documented but I’d like to know it’s purpose. Note I have only used with m4b files so far. ————— Loading via airdrop is ok. Loading via Finder in Catalina just doesn’t work well. May have worked in iTunes but file load in the Catalina’s Finder iTunes replacement just doesn’t work reliably. Also all the help files are for the developers older MP3 player app which really confuses the new user because all help just f doesn’t apply to this app. The app could be quite good but all these issues need to be cleaned up.
