J-Novel Club is a digital publishing company started by translators and fans like you! Our mission is to translate and release the coolest, funnest, and newest light novels from Japan to the world. We saw that the fans really want to check out the latest light novels, but very few of them were being officially released in English. So, founder Sam Pinansky decided to gather together the best group of Japanese to English translators and editors, and headed over to the Japanese publishers to license content. To his surprise, some of them actually said yes! By focusing on digital releases, and providing a membership service to let people read the books as soon as they are translated, our goal is to build a community of light novel readers and to grow the market, so that more and more releases can be officially licensed and translated. Not good
Bad interface, it locks up trying to log in, it claims to remember your spot in a chapter but then goes back earlier. It also doesn’t allow selecting a d copying text or even looking up words in the apple lookup feature. It also fails to let you identify a spot in a chapter to let editors know of errors, nor does it have a link to the discussion board for a story. But you can adjust text size and night mode.

I didn’t believe it was that bad. It is that bad. A reading app that makes reading difficult and annoying... I’ll stick to the website. I just thought it might have things to notify me when a fav series has new content. But no. It’s too difficult.

You can make the font larger by tapping at the top of the page to get the options since for some strange reason the app starts with text sized for ants to read. My biggest issue is on an iPhone 12 the top line of text is unreadable because of the camera is housed over the screen. Adding a black bar to the top would easily remedy this. You are probably better off just using a browser instead of this app if you have an iPhone 12.

I love to read things on the go, so I was hoping this app would work out for me. However, the text is itty bitty with no way to change the size, sans zooming in. And zooming in is extremely touchy, so I keep getting flung between pages. There is NO way to return to the chapter or book select after you’ve opened the chapter. How could they neglect such an integral part of an e-reader. I hope they fix the app up, because they just licensed my most anticipated light novel, and it will be forever until its released on other platforms.

Hello J-Novel! I love the website and what you guys do, light novels are my favorite thing to read. That being said... What am I going to do with this app? Read light novels. What is the worst thing about this app? Reading light novels. How do you mess up the reading function for an app so badly? I can’t even see the first sentences at the top of the page because it goes past the iPhone notch. How did you do this? Why are you doing this to me? I just want to read novels on your app which is the one thing it should be able to do and it does so horribly. Please for the love of light novels and Isekai, fix your app.

Was debating subscribing to read a few upcoming series but after seeing how much of a mess the app is (For instance, text being unreadable at the top of the screen on my iphone) I wont even subscribe to their website. Very sad, even attempting to change how text is displayed does not work and causes the app to crash
