You can even use styling on a per-book basis. And if that’s not enough, you can also add your own CSS. Cool, right? ■ HIGHLIGHT AND ANNOTATE EFFORTLESSLY Tap-and-drag or use the selection handles to highlight in any one of several available colors. Write notes for a highlight and refer to them any time you need to. You can also share highlights as images and post them to Twitter or Facebook, or export all your highlights for use elsewhere. ■ GOODREADS INTEGRATION Use Goodreads? We've got you covered - shelve books, make status updates and post quotes, all right from the app. ■ ADD BOOKS WITH EASE Add ePubs using your favorite cloud services - Dropbox, Google Drive, OPDS servers, and more. You can also use the in-app web browser to download ePubs, or add them using iTunes. ====== OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES: ■ NIGHT MODE Transition Hyphen's reading interface to soothing, darker colors at night. ■ METADATA Edit the title, author, subjects, covers and more of your books. Hyphen can even lookup book covers and metadata for you. ■ SHELVE & SORT Add books to custom shelves, and sort by author, title, last read, or date added. ■ CUSTOM CSS & FONTS Hyphen lets you import both your favorite fonts for use while reading, as well as CSS. ■ DEFINE & TRANSLATE Translations of the text you're reading are only a tap away. Use this setting to make reading more comfortable. You can also optionally only use two columns when your device is in landscape orientation. ■ VOCABULARY Add words to a vocabulary list and export them easily. ■ INTERACTIVE Tap and hold a link to open it in the in-app browser, or Safari. Images zoom in, letting you see every detail. Swipe through and jump between images throughout the text with the Image Viewer. ■ ADE PAGES SUPPORT Hyphen utilizes ADE pages, so you’ll always have a cross-reader compatible way of finding and noting where you are in a book. ■ INCREDIBLY FAST Download and import books in the blink of an eye. Broken under iPadOS 16?
Both the full and light versions immediately quit on launching. Deleting and rrinstalling doesn't help. I really like the formatt9ng options and am sorry to need to go to a less featured app.
Needs update
App only crashes with iOS 16 and 16.1 on both iPhones and iPads even when App Store claims it’s still compatible. Gladly will change review if it ever works again.
Used to be bar none the best IOS epub reader
Broken by IOS 16 update, now it just crashes on Launch 😭
Breaks under iOS 16
My favorite app for reading EPUBs. Beautiful and flexible. Unfortunately, it breaks under iOS 16. I hope an update materializes, but since there hasn’t been one in four years, I’m afraid this is abandonware. ☹️
Can’t even sync with g drive anymore
Stopped working
Long line in epub like program code spills to next page. Useless to read programming book
It doesn’t wrap some line correctly in programming epub book
Solid Alternative to iBooks
There are a few quirks to using this app, but they are minimal in my opinion. When you get a large number of books in the library, managing the shelves becomes a bit tedious. Ultimately I just got rid of the shelves and just ended up with a massive collection I can search by. Some of the metadata didn’t transfer correctly when uploading some books, but that could be a number of things. No real support for PDF’s, but Calibre lets you turn PDF’s into EPubs so no worries there. I have just north of 600 books on my iPad, and so far it is still pretty snappy. Once you understand how to navigate the app, it becomes a solid e-reader. I am satisfied, worth the few dollars it cost. If I had to, I’s buy it again, The Dropbox integration is pretty handy, and supports bulk downloads in any given folder, but does not include sub folders. If you have your books organized by subject/author and have a few to go through it makes uploading them all a little tedious, recursive bulk downloading would be a cool thing. Outside of that, solid product.
