Watch app broken
It used to work but the last update destroyed the watch app (crashes on launch).
Love this app but it’s glitchy
I’ve been a subscriber of Scribd and now Everand for years now, and it is a great alternative to Audible! However, the player is pretty glitchy. I often have to restart the app to resume listening to my audiobook. And sometimes it will even restart my book from the beginning. I enjoy using this service, but I hope to see future improvements in this area.
Absurd reading limits are scamming people out of their money.
I’ve been a user of Everand since the app was called Scribd. Since the app has changed names, I’ve been increasingly frustrated with the number of times my account has been restricted because I’ve “reached my reading limit” for this app. The first time this happened, I was surprised because of the way the advertising suggests you get unlimited access when you pay for their service. However, I’m aware of how capitalist and money hungry our society has gotten and wasn’t surprised that there was, indeed, a limit to their services. Then, the limit started getting reached after 4-5 books instead of 7-8 like before. This last month, my account was restricted after I finished ONE book. 342 titles I had saved were now “available soon” for me and my account had “reached its reading limit” for the month. 🙄 After emailing and messaging with their support team on Instagram, they have ever so thoughtfully informed me (and definitely not in a cookie cutter, AI response kind of way) that “ In the meantime, I’ve looked over your account, and there are some ebooks / audiobooks in our library that, while still available on Everand, are not currently accessible to you until May 05, 2024. This limit is determined each month, in part, by your recent reading history. For example, this month, it began after you started reading Red Rising. The ebooks / audiobooks currently listed as “Available Soon” will refresh for you each month on the May 05, 2024. This helps us balance a competitive monthly subscription price with an ever-growing library, featuring titles from the biggest publishers, Everand Originals, magazine articles, independent authors, sheet music, podcasts, and more. We’re constantly expanding our library to provide as much content to our readers as possible, and we guarantee there is another available title for you to discover and enjoy. You can visit our Explore page, or browse the Everand homepage for recommendations.” Ah, I feel so heard and understood. It’s like my problem never existed in the first place. 🙄
NO LONGER UNLIMITED *
Once upon a time this subscription had unlimited listening- bought the subscription to finish a series but when I got to the last book it says “you’ve reach your limit for monthly cycle” So now I have to wait a month to finish?!
Apple watch app stopped working
Maybe I’m the only one using the Apple Watch app, but even after multiple uninstalls/reinstalls, it is not working on the latest WatchOS 10.4
The Poor Man's Scribd
Everand is meh. When it works, it's great. But, you often have to restart the app because it freezes up. It frequently loses my place. And now, there's this weird content limiting of basically popular content? So, randomly halfway through my book, I hit my "limit" and could no longer listen to it. What am I paying for?
Bait and switch - books disappear after subscription
When I subscribed the collection of books was impressive. Then it stopped allowing access to new books until a certain date of the month. Then when it unlocked access in the month, the selection of books was smaller than when I first subscribed.
