Here is what you need to know about the app: • Pay for fuel at participating Esso branded stations using Apple Pay, PayPal or your credit or debit card for quick and secure payment • Collect Nectar points on your app transactions (without the need to carry your Nectar card) • See your Nectar points balance & get exclusive Esso offers • Remember to link your Nectar card in the Esso App to be eligible for Nectar points & offers. • We suggest setting up the Esso App at home before you arrive at the site so you’re all ready to go! • The app will ask you to select the maximum amount you’d like to fuel. This value will be reserved in your account until your bank can see how much you’ve actually fuelled. • All your digital receipts stored in one convenient location and emailed to you. • Use the app to find your nearest Esso station. You can now use the Esso App to pay for fuel at almost all of our sites across the UK, but there are a few which aren’t quite ready yet. You can check the app’s Esso station finder to find a mobile enabled site near you. Download the app now to try it with your next fill.
Nectar rewards
The nectar rewards do not work through the app. This is the second time I have selected and confirmed to use 300 points and the price per litre has not been reduced. I will no longer be using the app and probably Esso stations too. I use Esso for the nectar rewards.

Was working brilliantly until this week. Not sure what they have been messing about with. Filled my car up and selected the 5p off nectar offer and was excited to also be getting the 6x points as well. Was extremely disappointed and annoyed once filled up as didn’t get the 5p per litre off, didn’t get the 6x bonus, and didn’t even get the normal nectar points. Pull your finger out Esso! Otherwise I will go back to filling up at Supermarkets

Worked fine for a year, now this app is broken. My last 4 visits using mobile payments in the app at Esso forecourts have all failed / not worked properly for various reasons. When redeeming 300 nectar points for the advertised 5p off per litre, I get an email saying thanks for redeeming your 300 points yet still end up paying full price for my petrol with no discount?!?! That’s fraudulent isn’t it? Absolute disgrace. The equivalent, superior Shell app does work so I now use their pay at pump feature instead. Shell’s app works, Esso’s doesn’t. Suggest you use Shell instead too.

I keep trying to log in but it says my log in is wrong but it’s the exact same one I use to log on online the login saved to iPhone passwords so I don’t understand the issue. And when I select forgot password it doesn’t send any links ???

The Esso app continues to be the worst app attempting to support mobile fuel payments in the U.K. Whilst Shell has threatened it on occasion, Esso still gets the crown for perpetually not working for little or no valid reason. Today I went though all the process, approved the payment and after 5 minutes it told me my loyalty credentials were not recognised. Clearly not the case - and if so this should have been highlighted at login. Gave up after 3 attempts and got different error messages each time. Prior experience of using the app include a 6 month wait in 2022 to handle a support matter that should have taken a 10 minute phone call and an email. To summarise: mobile payment apps are supposed to make life easier and more efficient - this app is brilliant at having the completely opposite effect. Solution: don’t use an Esso garage. Response to Developer feedback: I spent 6 months back and forth with that email address, which included many occasions where no response was received. Your customer support is on par with the app ie well below the required standard.
