Plane Finder works by picking up real time ADS‐B signals used by aircraft to transmit positional data to land based receivers. This technology is faster than traditional radar and is used for air traffic control and navigation. ADS‐B is not used by all airlines or aircraft, however this is changing and the number of aircraft tracked by ADS‐B is increasing all of the time. Traditional radar type data in near real time is also included for North America; this is subject to a short time delay.

Feel cheated after paying for for it , the functionality is restricted in the recent updates. Poor business ethics. Disappointed
The alerts section doesn't work properly I have a squawk (7700) alert, but turned off, and also a "tail" alert (with an entered tail #) which is ON. The squawk still is sent on my phone when one occurs despite being set to OFF. Also Android version seems somewhat abandoned or neglected.
Solid, but features continue to be added to the iOS version that never seem to make it here despite months of statements to the contrary. Also noticing more issues where plane icons continue moving straight despite the path making a turn. Not sure I'd recommend to pay for it as much as I used to advocate for it.
Lame, the delta flight my wife was on wouldn't even pull up and this want the first time. Guess a quick Google search to the rescue once again. Uninstalled and will just use Google from now on. Be nice if this worked but it's all show and no go.
As a United States drone pilot, I found Plane Finder to be the best at simply showing all aircraft within a particular map view along with their altitude. This is a major safety issue with any aircraft flying at a low altitude within a drone pilot's flight area. What would be a major feature for all drone pilots would be the ability to get an alarm or some type of audible notification of any aircraft that have entered the air space of a drone pilots screen map view. Thank you.
