Why we need the permissions:
Bluetooth
We will be adding location assistance to mapping (see our new terminal maps) that uses BLE
Location
Your location helps us give you relevant information tailored to where you are at the time.
Photos/Media/Files
Access to photos is required to store parking reminders.
Camera
The camera allows the app to scan credit cards and expedite the checkout process.
Wi-Fi connection information
This allows the app to understand when connectivity exists to give you the data you need.
Other
Other various permissions allow the app to: receive google notifications, process notifications while the device is trying to sleep, access American’s web services, and vibrate for important messages.
Csnnot retrieve boarding passes
The app works but just a warning. If you use AA you will be delayed. I haven't taken a trip with AA that didn't have atleast 2 lengthy delays in one trip. They are pretty terrible about getting you to where you want to go when they say they will. Edit: Would just like to add that this is still true 6 years later.

gate checked my carry-on despite protest. watched it fall off the conveyor of the bombardier. disappointed.
Too many advertisements to log into. Very misleading.
This is, by far, the least intuitive, most frustrating airline app I have ever used. It is also requiring a third party app which won't communicate properly in order to check in. Sure hope their airplanes work better than their app and sure hope I can eventually get checked in to find out.
Haven't flown for a while. Newly adopted process was nerve-wracking, but got through it with flying colors. Thanks for making it so easy!
