(External micro SD card required for sampling.)
Pocket Punk is a drum machine/step sequencer made for Android phones. It allows sampling via it's music player and uses .wav files only. The synthesizer has a piano roll of about 1-4 octaves and is powered by Audio Helm. Using a 3.5mm headphone jack is strongly recommended. If you use Bluetooth headphones there will be a delay with the audio signal.
After installation place your .wav files in the following path on your device if you wish to sample:
SD card/Android/data/com.Zillatronics.PUNK/files/
Sample a song by tapping the large button, on beat, in the sampler. Keep tapping until the counter turns red. Press the red button on Sampler to clear samples. Your patterns and samples will also be saved after the app is closed.
*MP3 downloader and MP3 to WAV converter apps will be most helpful for sampling. Android's Screen Recorder can be used to record your work.
Remember to have fun!
This app is an absolute mess. Things only work half of the time, there's no clear indication of what things do or are at a glance, the beat is way off tempo, when picking sounds to add them to the automation sometimes the app completely forgets what sound is supposed to be inputting so it just does a blank. Frustrating as hell.

App has potential, makes me think of a pocket operator. Better design and functionality should be done. There's no play/stop buttons for example, it's not clear what each stuff does, there's lots of little things that aren't clear either or don't work as you expect, like the levels of faders, or how to go into synth mode. You find out by fidling and stuff, but it's very basic. I give it 4 stars for now, as having a pocket operator on my phone is nice, it simply lacks design and functionality.
