Surah Yassin Abdul Basit

He is Abd al-Basit bin Muhammad bin Sulayem bin Abd al-Samad, one of the largest and most famous reciters of the Noble Qur’an.
Sheikh Abd al-Basit Abd al-Samad was born in the year 1927 AD in the city of "Arment" in the Qena Governorate in southern Egypt. His father, Sheikh Muhammad Abd al-Samad, was one of the great reciters of the Noble Qur'an in his village.

Abd al-Basit Abd al-Samad memorized the Qur’an in his hometown book at the hands of Sheikh al-Amir and studied narrations with Sheikh Muhammad Salim. He completed memorizing the Qur’an at the age of ten.

Sheikh Abd al-Basit Abd al-Samad quickly became one of the great singers in southern Egypt (in Upper Egypt). But the event that changed the course of his life was his visit to the Sayyidah Zainab Mosque in the year 1950 AD, during the celebrations of the birth of the virtuous lady.
