Waistline is a calorie counter and weight tracker that allows you to keep a diary of the food you eat and track variations in your weight.
All data is kept on your device, it's never shared with a server or uploaded to the "cloud" (unless you want to upload data to Open Food Facts) but it can be exported or imported easily when needed.
The app includes a barcode scanner that connects to the Open Food Facts database to pull in product information.
Best of all this app respects your freedom, data, and privacy. It is entirely free/libre and open source. The source code is available on GitHub - https://github.com/davidhealey/waistline
Almost perfect diet and weight app :) A*****
I had a bit of trouble entering food like an egg, since I can't scan a barcode for it and don't know the nutritional information without a database. But I got the hang of adding food manually eventually
This is the best alternative to Myfitness Pal. I am tired of MFP obvious privacy violations and greed. Waistline does the job and I am sure it will get better the more we use it. I would suggest that some measurements such as body fat % be calculated automatically on the basis of neck, waist, hip, and weight measurements. And what would make this app top is automatic backup and cvs or excel report exports.
This is the one that I keep after trying out dozens of these apps. Simple and the most customizable. One thing that it does and that I can't find anywhere else is that you can change the order of the nutrition values in the food creation screen, so you can tailor it to how things are shown on the food labels in your country and get mindless when you create a new food. Superb and free!
I highly recommend NOT using this version of the app, but rather the updated version via GitHub or Fdroid. This is because when trying to add foods/meals/recipes, there's a bug that doesn't let you add a picture. Apart from that, the app has excellent features and is well integrated with Open Food Facts.
Great app with useful tools: scanner, graphs, goals, automated calculation. Open sourced and free.
A fantastic app that gives me inspiration in many ways
