The Petivity Smart Litter Box Monitor system consists of a smart device and connected app that transform data about your cat’s litterbox behavior into insights about their well-being. The system identifies behavior and weight changes that may be associated with a health condition requiring veterinary diagnosis like UTI, kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism and obesity.
I have used two of these monitors since November of 2023 and I originally loved them, but this month's update has rendered them virtually useless. It jumbled all the data, even though my cats are almost 2 full pounds apart in weight, and after I got it all straighted out the notifications have been pointless. It alerted me that one had lost 2 ounces over a week but in that same time frame my other cat was actually sick and lost 8 ounces in 3 days and it didn't trigger anything. She's OK now.
They only offer Apple and Google oauth2, no old and simple email based auth. For the Google oauth2 one they take quite a lot of information. What would the app need your physical address for? Is definitely overreaching. They don't need it and you have no way to revoke it. It also doesn't support multi users, so in a house where more than one person takes care of the cats, information will only be provided to one of them, and all the burden of maintaining correct info falls on one person too.
This is a really helpful tool and I'm glad to have it. However, as other reviewers have said, I'd like it better if more members of my household could connect to the app on their devices to monitor our cats, so it's not all on me. This is unnecessarily exclusive, and while I'm the "cat mom" I'm not traditionally the keeper of technology. Visually, I like most of the new update. However, it's harder to read the battery level, and the "non-elimination" logo looks too similar to the pee&poo logo.
No way to connect product to network so the app is worthless. App seems to connect to the litter monitor but it doesn't then supply the litter monitor device's MAC address so I had no way to get my network to accept the connection. Lowering my network security level is not a viable option. The product also still relies on the 2.4 Wi-Fi network which is insanely antique. It's 2024. It would be nice if consumer tech creators could get with the times!
The box is okay. It doesn't always get my cat's weight correct. It is terrible at detecting when the box is cleaned and there is no way to enter it manually. I'm tired of the weight alerts because we are trying to get our cat to loose weight and there's no way to put that in the app. I think it is ridiculous that they cotinue to do cosmetic updates to the app without addressing customer complaints and concerns.
Until recently I was impressed with the precise measurements and visuals of the app. A couple months on it is constantly misidentifying our two cats (1Lb apart). The inability to share data with other family members, (Yes, not all cat owners are single middle aged women) leaves a lot to be desired. Most other smart-home apps allow you to share the data/controls with other accounts without having to sign your whole Google or Apple account into their device.
So far I cannot get it to connect to my Wi-Fi and yes I've tried everything, even called the cable company. I'm very disappointed. I am now waiting for a customer service response 😔**** Now moving it to four stars. The response from customer service was excellent. I finally got my unit to connect and it's working very nicely.I love the feature that weighs my cats and after initial setup, it can tell if it's urine or poops 😻 also suggests it's time to refresh your box. It's a pretty cool device
