Dark Chess is a variation of the Chess game. You can only see the squares on the chess board which your pieces can move to.
The differences between Chess and Dark Chess are as follows:
A piece is able to "see" the squares it attacks and can go to: If you open e2-e4 you will see d5, e5, and f5, since the pawn can move or capture those squares. You will also see the squares on the diagonals opened for the queen and bishop.
Squares that you cannot see (none of your pieces can move to them) are "dark" and you are not shown what may or may not be on them.
It’s very important to keep your board a secret because this Chess variation lies in keeping the placement of your pieces a secret from your partner.
Features:
• Seven levels of difficulty in solo mode: simple to very hard
• Play with friends or random opponents online
• Online games are saved on server (note: your game is saved for one week; if you don’t make you move for one week, you lose the match)
• Simple, easy to use interface
• Several sets of chess pieces and boards
• Full undo
Finally find fog of war chess, and it is done horribly. You reveal a space it stays revealed. Pieces don't always reveal information. If your pawn can attack it says it can attack, but not what it can attack.
Interesting idea. Need a little more clarification for rules: 1. Hide squares which are not available in dynamic mode. Now once a swuare is open it is never hidden again. 2. For a pawn make visible all possible moves including diagonal captures. 3. Pieces and pawns under attack are a kind of 'help'. Maybe by desing. E.g. A knignt is under attack by a queen which is not visible but the knight is makred as red

Contrary to the description: after e4 I don't see d5 and f5, which I'm attacking.
innovative idea
I love the concept but the implementation is slightly off. It feels as if the pawns don't reveal squares consistently, squares remain visible after pieces move away, and revealed squares are evaluated at the start of the player turn meaning if the piece that was just moved is captured then no new sqares are revealed. That being said, still the best dark chess game I've seen yet.
Disappointingly, it will not connect to their server for online games as of 3/30/18. I first bought the paid version hoping to play dark chess online with my son, but neither of us could connect. Message is, " Connection failed. Please check your settings." I got a refund and installed the free version thinking maybe that had been updated. Alas, no. I realize dark chess is sort of a niche game and servers aren't free, but this looked so promising. I'm giving it 1 star not because I hate it, but because it simply won't work for online 2 player.
