GuteBooks offers over 700,000 free classic e-books from authors ranging from Charles Dickens to H. G. Wells. Covering every genre of literature, GuteBooks offers free works of literature, science, drama, and history entirely free.
GuteBooks includes books from various sources, including Project Gutenberg, Google, and OpenLibrary.org. These works are in the public domain, and are totally free. That means that you won't find this year's new releases, but you will find the best literature of past years. Indeed, while many of the titles are the same ones you would find on a Kindle or a Nook, they are not just cheap, but entirely free.
Gutebooks allows you to view eBooks in two ways - by viewing the original pages of the scanned books, or by viewing resizable text scaled for your screen. Choose whichever method is best for you from the options menu.
Pretty nice and resourceful
Excellent access to the many hundreds of thousands of free e-books at Project Gutenberg ebooks. Excellently designed app, with beautiful colors & typesetting. It's very easy to learn and use. A big advantage is that, unlike some other ebook apps, you can set your SD card as your place to download, so that it doesn't bury your phone or tablet in piles of storage data. Great app!
Great app for great reads!
I downloaded this app and tried to specify in which language(s) the app was to suggest books for me and it did nothing. It went back to the main page several times and then back to the Play Store download page for Gutebooks. The app seems too buggy to use.
really bad, non of the bookmarks work. As soon as you get on the app there are inappropriate book covers. if I could give this a 0 I would
I can't add different languages, it just crashes. I wanted to like this, but it just doesn't work on my device
I am very grateful for the time devoted to scanning old books for viewing by us all, however it seems that many books (ironically, all the ones I seek) are mismatched: e.g. title of file does not match the scanned work. Today I sought "Pioneer Quilt" by Mary Hickey. This title is attached to, "M TULLII CICERO: Cato Major Sive De Senectute" App needs a way to report such files so that the titles may be corrected. I would gladly join the volunteer force who corrects these files! :-)
