United StatesCity bikes offer a fast way to move around during both free time and on business trips. Bikes can be found at city bike stations in the extended city center area. For use, you need the Tampereen kaupunkipyörät application, through which registration and payment is handled. The licence is valid from the moment of purchase.
It's a good thing Finns like gambling because it's a gamble each morning if the app will function.. However the bikes are always in good condition and they work well, availability is generally good and it's good value for money but the roulette each time I take a bike needs to go!
My first attempt using it failed entirely. tried three different bikes before giving up. not sure if problem is with the app or the bike. (Edit to earlier 1 ⭐ review.) Turns out it was the Bluetooth connection on my phone being off which caused the issue. I liked the service in general, but had issues at certain stations where bikes would claim to be unlocked, but would not physically open their lock. By no means perfect, so not great if you're in a hurry.

Tää on kyllä ihan naurettavan huonosti toimiva äppi. Osan aikaa toimii joo ilman ongelmia, mutta maksullisessa palvelussa ei saisi olla vähän väliä random "no nyt ei vaan mikään pyörä aukee" ongelmaa, joka ei liity mitenkään puhelimeen tai asetuksiin. Ei tähän pystyisi ainoana kulkuvälineenä kiiressä luottamaan.
Käyttö on välillä aika jäykkää, harvoissa tapauksissa jopa mahdotonta. Yleisesti ottaen toimii ihan ok.
All is quite good, bikes are decent, things work quite smoothly when used. However one detail of information is missing in the app: it does not tell you that you need Bluetooth on when unlocking the bicycle. Only website does. App needs updating.
