Journey Log enables you to keep track of your journeys.
After signing in and enabling journey recording, the app will start to automatically record journeys in the background to construct a driver journal. Once the journey is completed it will show up in the app. One can filter journeys based on dates or categories to make it easier to find past journeys up to 12 months. Journey Log's export functionality enables you to export your driver journal with filtered views to CSV/xls files and obtain it in an email. The app shows the journey details like the distance driven, energy consumption, odometer readings, timestamps, and addresses of the start and end locations. A map of the journey with the waypoint trail is also shown. Journeys can be categorized as business, private, or commute. Up to 15 single journeys can be merged together and the journey information is automatically updated. A merged journey can be unmerged to get back the single journeys.
You need to have a Google ID to sign in to the app. The same Google ID is used to record the user's journey and send the driver journal export. A user will not be able to access the journeys of other users using the same car while accessing the app from his/her profile.
A journey recording starts when the car gear is put in drive mode (D). The Journey ends when the car is put in parking mode (P). The app presents messages on the journey recording to the notification bar.
Journeys shorter than 1 km (or 1 mi) are now visible in the app and can be included in the email export if you prefer.
Please always check if you get notifications from the app whenever you undertake any journey.
Note: Software version 2.9 or higher is required to see odometer readings in the journeys. For versions 2.8 or less, the odometer readings will be shown as 0.
Export errors, frustration and data omissions are par for the course with the app. Every export results in a mysterious error message about export failing due to no internet connection (even when I am connected to wifi in the garage). Even worse data omissions happen at random. Export a year of data and you will find missing trips. Export monthly data and trips that disappeared from the annual will be found, while simultaneously losing trips that were on the annual export. Disappointing.
Does not always capture all journeys made by the car
Latest update has included odometer reading in the export - that's nice! But I find that the app often (usually) will not load in the car (just shows a spinning icon) and exports often have a few days of data missing. Inconsistent data exports if do several exports on the same day even!
It's ok, but it could (should?) do so much more: - Record speed info (average, max, min, etc.) a bit like Strava's map features - Record video of the trip with the various cameras - Plots energy consumption on the map - etc.
It would be a very useful tool if it records all rides. However, it does not, I export it about every month and the export often misses days to sometimes a week of rides so I cannot rely on it as a ride record at all... which makes it kind of pointless.
Dieses Fahrtenbuch ist in Deutschland nicht rechtskonform, da es nur eine Excelliste sendet und diese veränderbar ist und die Gründe einer Fahrt nicht enthält.
Great when it works. But from time to time it doesn't record the trips and you won't notice until you actively look for it (e.g. when you do your export). I was on a business trip 3 days and it recorded all trips as intended day 1. But then no trips for day 2 and 3 were recorded. I was the only driver during the trip and had only 1 key with me. Journey Log was not recording trips for an additional 2 days after my return home, but then suddenly started to work again. Without me taking any action.
