Unit doesn’t show up in the app half the time. They tell you to swipe down to make it re-appear(??). Door open alerts don’t work. Not reliable anymore.

I don’t like this app. It is difficult to install and then it stops working after you get it installed. I had to get a Wi-Fi booster and it still was a pain to get it to work. Then it stopped working. You would expect that a company that advertises this could get it to work. Forget calling the help centers unless you plan to sit on hold for a few hours. Ask them to call you back it’s an hour then they hang up on you. I should have bought a different opener.

I have a brand new Genie wall mount wireless opener. It has the option for the Aladdin app. It consistently works two or three times, and then it makes the opener going to fault. when that happens, I have to pull the emergency release and reset the opener using the wall mount remote. I have a strong Wi-Fi connection so that’s not the problem. Seems like the only thing it’s good for, is letting me know if the door is open or closed. I’ll keep the app for a little while longer to see if there’s an update that fixes it, if not, I’ll delete the app.

I just started using this app and on an iPad it's a big bright white page of nothing. But then I guess that's appropriate for my big huge garage door. Although on my phone, at least the Android version you can change the color of the graphics to black. They need to come up with a better design for only having a single door. Like putting all the info you'd have to tunnel for on the one page. It does what it's supposed to, as far as opening and closing the door, but it's painful doing it. Very hard on the eyes. "Dark Mode" guys. The "Rules" are severely limited in scope and logical use of the door. I have it connected to my Echos, but the skill isn't available to make useful logical Routines. Although it says it can. Do I have to use up one of my "Wishes" with Genie to get logical Home Automation use from this unit?

A while back, Genie/Aladdin forced an app update on all users for vaguely described “back end improvements”. Since this update, and every update following, my main apparatus door opener “cannot connect to the cloud”. I have tried their customer service solutions a few times over. My last attempt, the rep told me to buy a new opener as the newer model wouldn’t have this issue. Nothing is wrong with my current opener other than this cloud issue. Prior to the app update, it worked without issue in any conditions. Even after power outages, functionality came back without intervention. I have not been able to open it once since the app update was forced onto users. The reviews here, and cumulative score, are misleading. Sorting by new will show that the majority of users are not having good experiences.

I’ve had to reprogram it twice since I’ve gotten it as the app “lost” the doors. Sometimes the doors will still appear but say disconnected and be in a unusable state. The best is recently when the app went through a major update and for the third time my doors were “lost” — not appearing in the app. This time I didn’t bother to reprogram and after a month and a half they reappeared. Devs must have botched the updated. When it works it’s great, it just isn’t stable and I find myself using a remote all the time. Remind me why I installed the retro fit on my door opener?
