MetroBuddy is your subway ride's best friend. In cities like New York where you have to swipe your transit card to unlock the turnstile, forgetting your balance and being greeted by an "insufficient funds" message can be annoying, and delay your journey. MetroBuddy lets you enter your current MetroCard balance, and update it each time you swipe. Never lose time at the MetroCard reader again, your balance will always be available on your phone! The app also calculates how many rides you have left, based on your fare. Use the History tab to review the changes you made to your balance. MetroBuddy also provides Siri shortcuts to record a swipe and check your balance. This enables you to build powerful automation for your commute, such as recording a swipe, starting your favorite playlist, and checking the next train departure. If you are using iOS 14 or later, you can add a widget to your home screen or your widget center to view your balance even faster. We are proud to be working on making MetroBuddy as inclusive as possible. You can change your fare if you have a more affordable one. The app is also fully compatible with iOS assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and VoiceControl. Turnstiles are not fully accessible, but MetroBuddy is. Do not hesitate to reach out with feedback and/or questions by e-mail at [email protected]. Please note that MetroBuddy is a hobby app and is not affiliated with New York's MTA in any way.
It really a balance checker. Rather it tracks usage that you record yourself
Not great or work the $
This is truly nothing more than a counter
Paid for an app that does nothing! I could put my balance in Notes by myself. Will try to get apple to refund it, though for .99 it is hardly worth the effort! Read ALL reviews before buying! They show only the good review at the top.
Do not get without reading reviews
I just wasted $1.08. This app does math for you that you could keep track on on your notes. Does not allow you to ACTUALLY CHECK A BALANCE on a card. Literally just subtracts from whatever amount you set it at to start. So So in st Louis on way to nyc does nothing for me to save a stop to see if I have enough fare to get on the bus quickly.
Horrible
I did not expect it to cost but I was charged and could not stop it
Scam App
This is a scam app. I don’t know why Apple let it stay on the App Store. It has no interface to MTA. It does not know your balance. It is a false advertisement.
Great Reminder
Even though checking my balance is free on machines or on the bus, sometimes I forget so it’s super convenient to know how many rides I have left. I would give it 5 stars if the app gave me the option to add more than 1 card!!!
Worthless
Tracking is manual; this app is entirely worthless. Save your $0.99, don't buy this app.
Introducing the History tab! This update features a brand new tab to track when you made the last change to your MetroCard balance in the app. This is handy if you need to verify that you recorded a swipe at a certain point, further helping you accurately keeping track of your balance.
