ID.me Authenticator is a simple and free multi-factor authentication (MFA) solution for your ID.me account, protecting your account from hackers by adding an additional layer of security. ID.me Authenticator generates secure 2-step verification tokens on your device, including time-based one-time passwords, (TOTP), push notifications, or mobile security keys, to verify your identity. When logging in, after entering in your password, you will be asked for an additional way to prove it is really you. Either approve the notification sent to the ID.me Authenticator by tapping ‘Yes’ to approve if it’s you (push notification), or enter the verification code generated by the app (TOTP).
Continuously requesting unlock code
App is recommended and nearly required, by federal agencies. And in order to use, requires consent to use biometrics OR supply phone’s passcode. Why?! Details of data collection and consent do not disclose that information. And in-app support is circular and unproductive. More care and transparency is necessary for something collecting such sensitive information.
No response
Wrote a email to the support team about account being temporarily suspended three weeks ago. Receiving no reply yet. I need the access to VA.gov. Is there anybody who is working beside the AI “Roy” ?
Less than one star
The entire process is absolutely ridiculous! Can’t get past the so called selfie video scan on iPhone or iPad … beyond frustrated and worse I’m a tech guy
A suggestion
There is no way to contact you unless I have a problem. I simply have a suggestion. All my Authenticator app say “Authenticator” and look alike. If I don’t remember which one I need, I have to try them all until I get the one I want. It’d be helpful if it said I’d.me either on the icon or the descriptor under the app icon itself.
Mickey Mouse operation
You go to a website that makes you use this garbage app and then the app doesn’t work. Just try to avoid it
MFA authenticator
There is absolutly no help that I can find other than articles that do not pertain to the problem that I am having. I changed carriers and my phone and now I have no access, no help available to me and no solution on how to overcome my roadblock to getting signed in again. Why there is no human available is mind boggling.
Zero customer service
ID.ME in general has zero customer service. Something that should be so easy is made incredibly complicated.
