Watch to 5K will help you gradually work up towards running 5K in just 9 weeks. The running plan is for absolute beginners. It involves 3 runs a week, with a day of rest in between, and a different schedule for each of the 9 weeks. By the end of the program, you will be able to run 5km in under 30 minutes.

Perfect Intro to running without extra nonsense

Easily one of better no frills running apps I’ve used to run walk and get into the sport. No accounts and great interface with nice animations and options.

Great guide through the program

I got this to track my attempt at the couch to 5k program and it has done that as expected. It’s easy to use. I like having the prompts telling me when to run and walk. I feel like this app is making the whole process easier for me.

It really works!

This app is PERFECT. I always wanted to start running, but every time I tried I could not get it right. I was unstructured and just ran as fast as I could, leaving me breathless within a minute. I tried other apps, but they either just served as trackers, or over complicated the process. This app made it so easy and with the press of 2 buttons, you are on your way. It literally tells you via a running animation when it’s time to walk, and when it’s time to run. It even provides you haptic feedback, meaning that you don’t even have to check your watch, just focus on walking/running. In terms of breaking it down, it is excellent. It starts with mostly walking, all the way to 30 minutes of running. The structure is so good that by the time you get to the last week, you really can run those 30 minutes non stop! I started using the app the first week of September, just ran my first 5K ever first week of December. This is something I could have NEVER imagined I’d be able to do, but here I am, all thanks to this app. This app works. It makes the process just so simple. The only “downside” I can say is that you do need an Apple Watch so keep that in mind. If you are wanting to start your journey but don’t know what or how, this is THE app to use. Thank you to the team for creating such a good app, and man that running/walking animation is just so clever. One request I do have is if you all could also make one for 10K, half marathon and full marathon. Keep it this simple, just up the structure to be able to run the higher mileage. I know this is a long review, but I really do want to make it clear that this app works.

Life Changing

With this app I went from having never run to hitting up a 5k 3 times a week, a healthy habit I can take forward for the rest off my life. I repeated several runs until I had the stamina to move on and it even tracks that. While the couch to 5k training method isn’t unique, this app is. It’s simple and functional, no subscription, does what it says on the tin. I suggest it to all my friends wanting to be more healthy.

Great app but…

I love the interface. Everything I need and nothing I don’t. Only two things kept me from rating 5 stars. I’d like to switch to miles permanently and I’d like to change the voice. Other than that, top notch!

Great watch based running app, needs workout improvements

As I go back to running on the treadmill at the gym again, I decided to go back to using this app. Overall I really like it, easy to select the run I want, it makes separate workouts for the warmup and cool down as well. Complaints: I have it setup to do inside runs, but when I review the workout there is always this ridiculous squiggle drawing of me running like a madman in all directions at the gym as if it were an outside run even though it is classified as an indoor run. I hope this can be fixed. Also in the workout data there is no breakdown by heart zone. I hope these are things that Apple gives third party developers access to fix.

OPEN RUN SUPPORT
Everyone runs at a unique pace. While the program aims for continuous running for 30 minutes, not everyone can achieve a 5K within this time and may miss out on achievements like the 5K distance milestone. Open Run lets you run at your preferred pace without time or distance constraints. Whether it's 3K, 5K, 40 minutes, or more, the choice is yours!


KILOMETRE SPLITS
As you advance in the plan and transition to continuous running without walk breaks, the Watch to 5K iPhone companion app will display Splits. This feature helps you track your progress and analyse performance more effectively.

Kilometre Splits will show for all Open Runs.


AUDIO IMPROVEMENTS
Watch to 5K seamlessly integrates with your favourite music player or podcast app. In version 5, the app will now temporarily pause spoken audio from podcasts or audiobooks while providing prompts, instead of simply lowering the audio as before. Music apps will still be lowered, not paused.
During Open runs, the virtual coach updates you on your progress at each kilometre, keeping you informed on your total run time, distance, and average pace.

You can also double-tap the screen to hear your current progress.


OTHER ENHANCEMENTS
• Satellite share images are now higher quality.
• Route lines have been refined to reduce sharp corners in specific instances.
• Improved accuracy of stats in the segment breakdown within the iPhone companion app, addressing minor inaccuracies caused by pauses during runs.
• Average heart rate is now included in the Run Details section of the iPhone app.
